AtLarge asked what would happen IF we put the 10ball on the spot?
Granted I cannot generate the power of the pro players.. The grey in my beard has taken some speed of the break but I can hit the 10ball break "Right" as in banking the ball next to the wing straight back while playing the balls behind the 1 in the sides and 4 railers on the wings.....
Here is what I noticed....
The balls behind the 1ball now wanted to go high... I could move closer to center and still play them but then I could not get the bank working on the ball next to the wing and the wings collided with other balls and didn't 4 rail easily... maybe one of them would make it thru but the 4 railer was no longer a good percentage ball to fall and they generally did not end up in the same place...
I moved around the head string and really found nothing that worked as consistently as when the 1 was on the spot...
I think the 10 on the spot would definitely change the average number of balls pocketed and likely lead to more random patterns even using the template.....
I will video my next go at this but I had no one to hold the camera with me today and the room was pretty dead...
I am not saying anything is broken the way it is as I like offense.. and lots of it but if it is deemed too easy by the pro players to be a good test for tournament play with the 1 on the spot this very well may change it just enough to add the difficulty that should be added by using one more ball than in the rotation than 9ball...
Right now a great 10ball break is owned only by a few but when they use it they make 10ball easier than 9ball because of the repetition of ball layouts because the ball paths are pretty much clean from collisions in 10ball and you can play 5 balls at a hole..6 if you know how to play the 1....
