The score's currently 5-3. Here's a brief summary of what happened so far.

Foldes won the 1st game. Alex ran a 3 pack on him afterwards. Then Foldes just ran 4 racks.

Foldes has the break going and he's playing quite well. He is doing well running racks when he has the chance and he's playing good safeties.

Alex was very aggressive at the start of the match, but he missed a taugh 3/4 table length cut on the 2 ball in rack 5 to give Foldes the chance.

Rack 9:

Foldes broke and scratched in the side. THe table's got 2 clusters at the top of the table and Alex's deciding if he should play for the 3 fouls. Alex's made the 1 and broke out one of the clusters. Made the 2 and tried to break the 2nd cluster but missed the break. Missed a cut shot on the 4 in the side but left an awkward bridge to Foldes. Foldes played a poor safety with the 4 at one end and the cue ball at the other end of the table. Alex played a simple safety and got the hide. Foldes got the hit and ALex played a simple safety again. Foldes got out his jump cue and nearly made 4 on a jump-bank. Alex made the 4, but bumped the 5 into an awkward spot along the long rail. Alex had no shot, but played a very good safety. He hid the 5 ball behind the 9 ball and the cb behind the 6/7 cluster. Foldes kicked 1 rail and got a hit, he left Alex with a shot. Alex played a taugh shot, and even better position on the 6 ball. Ran the rest of the rack. 5-4 for Foldes.

Alex broke. Made a shot on the break. Has the 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 left. Crossed banked the 1 into the top left pocket. Alex missed an EASY straight in shot on the 2 and left Foldes a shot on the 2 into the right bottom pocket. Foldes made the 2 with power, brought the cb around the top 3 rails for a taught cut on the 3 into the lower left pocket and made it. Made another taugh shot onthe 4 to the top right pocket. Foldes ran the rest of the rack. ALex looked quite disappointed with his miss. 6-4 foldes.

Rack 11: Foldes broke. Has a clear shot on the 1 into the top right pocket. Has the 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9. The table's wide open. Foldes has a slightly awkward bridge over the 8. Foldes missed a very makeable long 1 ball. Alex ran the rest of the routine rack.

Rack 12. ALex broke and made the 3, cb got kicked and didn't leave a makeable shot on the 1. The cb was on the elft rail near the side pocket. The 1 ball's on the right rail midway between the top right corner pocket and the side. Alex played a poor safety and left Foldes with a shot on the 1 top the top left corner. The rest of the table's open. Foldes made an awkward position on the 6. He missed the 6 on the right side pocket, but left the cb snookered. Alex played a great 1 rail kick and made the 6 ball that was hanging. ALex cleared the rest. 6-6 even.

Rack 13. Alex broke and made 3 balls on the break. Got a clear shot on the 3 into the top left corner. The rest of the table is wide open. Alex was a bit short on position on the 9 and missed a very makeable cut. Left the 9 in the middle of the table and the cb near the top of the table. Foldes made the taugh cut into the lower left pocket. 7-6 Foldes.

Rack 14:
Foldes broke and made the 4 and 8 to the lower right pocket. Made a thin cut on the 1 on the top rail and got shape on the 2. Missed another shot on the 3. Left ALex a shot on the 3 into the left side. The rest of the table's quite routine and Alex ran out. 7-7 even.

Rack 15:
Foldes looks like he's sleeping in his char. Alex broke and made 2 balls in the lower right corner. THe 1 ball's hanging on the top left. ALex left a long shot on the 2 and made it. Alex ran the rest of the rack and made a tricky 9 to go up 8-7.

Rack 16:
Alex broke and made the wing ball. The cb in the middle of the table and ALex's got a shot on the 1 to the top right. The 2 is on the bottom rail and alex drew up from the 1 to have a thin cut. Alex played teh shot with the bridge but made a big mistake and scratched the cb in the side pocket. ALex was possibly trying to nudge the 5 ball away from the rail, by the side pocket. Foldes ran the rest of the balls to get to 8-8.

thanks for the updates splicedpoints. come on pagulayan...

Folde broke. Made the 7 wing ball. The cb is in the middle of the table but the 5's blocking the 1. Foldes played a safety, but the 1 ball moved to the side of the 9 ball. Alex has a chance at the carom or a kick cut on the 9. Alex played a 2 way shot. He missed the carom, but the 1 ball went up the table to the top rail, with the cb at the bottom rail. Foldes played a good reply and left the 1 on the top and brought the 1 back down to the bottom of the table. Alex can see the 1 and has possibly a very thin cut. Alex went for the thin cut and made it. The cb went around the table and was just short on position on the 2 ball. Alex tried to play safety, but MISSED a hook by 1 or 2 millimeter. The 2 ball's clear into the left side with the cb near the lower right pocket. Foldes made the 2 and nearly missed the 3. THe rest of the rack seems routine and Foldes ran out to get on the Hill.

Rack 18:

Foldes looks a bit nervous, he had his head in the hands before the break. Foldes made the 7 wing ball into the lower right. Left the cb in the middle of the table and has a clear shot on the 1 into the top right.

Thanks for the play-by-play. I'd like to see Alex pull ahead.

Rack 18 cont. The rest of the table's wide open and Foldes just made the 2 and 3 into the side. Foldes made the easy 4 and 5. The cb was left in the middle of the table with the 6 ball 2 inches off the rail into the ltop left. Foldes is getting nervous and he's taking more time to prepare. Foldes cleared the rest of the table to beat Alex.

ahhhh . oh wells.. i still got corey =P

The match as from my perspective:

The match was tight. Both players made more than a few mistakes. Alex made some misses on some quite makeable shots. Foldes also made a few misses. The downfall of ALex was his failed safety in rack 17 where he narrowly missed the safety by literally millimeters. Foldes was cool under the pressure and ran the last rack quite nicely.
