I recently acquired a 1970's Palmer, 3rd Catalog Model 4
Also comes with 4 extra Shafts
Has been an interesting cue, I have never owned a Palmer and have learned a bit about them thank to some AZ'ers.
Some of the things I learned about this cue
The ferrules look to be Ivory, you can see grain, come to find out the are some sort of Plastic
Two of the extra shafts are over 14mm, reason is the balls use to be bigger and in the 70's, there was a fad for the fatter shafts, several of the old cues by different makers had larger shafts.
The wood around the inserts on the shafts was not present on the 3rd Catalog Shafts, but the two fatter shafts have wood around inserts. So may be earlier. These two also will not screw all the way into this Palmer because of the wood inserts.
The older Palmer shafts are not very expensive, but the joint material is not that common, been told by a couple of collectors this. A couple others say it is easy to reproduce, so really don't know about this
1) player 11.95 mm 28 7/8
2) 14.42 mm 28 1/2GONE
3) 14.29 mm 28 1/2GONE
4) 13.70 mm 29 3/8
5) 13.75 mm 29 3/8
I would like to keep this as a package deal, Palmer and 4 extra shafts, or
if someone wants the Palmer and the two extra shafts that fit
Please PM with offers, would consider trades as well
Please send PM's, do not bump thread
