Parallel System for One-Rail Kicking/Banking

Most of us are familiar with the "parallel" system for aiming two-rail kicks. Here's the parallel system applied to one-rail kicks/banks. It's described by Jack Koehler in Upscale One-Pocket and probably other places as well.

Like several other bank/kick systems, it uses half the distance from the ball to the target as its starting point.

The second drawing shows the same system used for one-rail kicks at balls.

I've always been a fan of this one. The diagrams make it look complex, but it really couldnt be any easier.

It's called the "middle point system" in volume 1 of Mika' DVD series.
 
Looks interesting. Thanks for posting it. I haven't read the book, but Jack's The Science of Pocket Billiards is probably one of my favorite books ever.

Parallel System for 2-Rail Banking

Here's how the parallel system works for a 2-rail bank that's common in one pocket.

Note: An experienced one pocket player will see that if aimed on this equal-angle track the shot goes long (hits the end rail past the target pocket) on a real table. To adjust for the effects of friction you typically have to aim 2-rail banks a little closer to the corner than the equal-angle track. The equal-angle track answers the question "closer than what?".
