Parris cues........................

I've heard the quality of Ultimates has taken a dip in recent years from what I've seen on TSF. Still, great to see a master cue maker on Stephen's channel.

They're holy grail cues for a lot of people, though. I already own one of my grail cues, but I might consider Parris if I ever need a new one.

You should see how many ultimates are bought in bulk and make there way to China... hardly a custom experience when you are buying from an online seller on a second hand app, or amazon equivalent (Taobao)... The fact JP let this happen is pure $$$$ grabbing. He isn't oblivious. But the custom experience/waiting list is deliberately manufactured, and is desired in order to bump up and justify the price, while the quality slides.

Genuine buyers who want a cue are waiting 8/9 years, or you can buy one of the hundreds (that have essentially become general shop cues) in China, and hope you find one that fits your spec...

Is the Ultimate even fitting its previous 'limited' description when there's thousands floating around out there?

A sneak peak at the process is always a wonderful thing though, and I won't pretend that workshop isn't like Wonka's factory to me! :ROFLMAO:

Buying a handmade cue is tenuous business, where one should be careful, and do some research to find out exactly what they are getting... the world of cue manufacture is hardly the most honest one...

I wouldn't, I'd go to Thailand and find someone to make one for you.... or seek out a more local seller whom you can check in on, and is happy to provide you with more of a 'hand-holding' journey to the finished product...

Jason Owen makes lovely cues btw, how are they playing for you? :)

Phenomenal. Cue looks and plays amazingly. Very nicely balanced and quite stiff.

Mike Wooldridge also comes to mind. I was going to order from him before going with Jason, but he wasn't open for orders at the time.

My friend is using a Wooldridge, and it does have me pining for another cue....

I'm quite happy with the Niche I had made in Thailand, watched it come to life and enjoyed the process.

The Cheshire ultimate I have, is also bloody lovely.

I follow Jason on IG and love watching his work, there was a company out of N.I. (Custom Cues) that were making some good looking cues, their web page is no longer, so not sure what's up with them...

My dad has a cue made by Robin Cook that I've seen him sink a few hundies with that is absolutely gorgeous.

A lot of these cue-makers have been plying China with cues.... pretending they are unaware where all these customs are going... knowing they're feeding a re-sellers market... justifying their price increases through extended order processing times as the product itself becomes less limited. It's crazy to see first hand how much some cues go for here...
