Paul Allers cue review

I bought an Allers cocobolo sneaky from Paul a week or so ago. I didnt like the size of the laminated shaft that came with the cue, so i had him build me one to my spec.

i'll make this short:

Paul is a great guy to deal with.

his laminated shafts are excellent. very stiff. the deflection was pretty low, almost as low as a 314. putting english on the ball was also very easy.

the only thing that i found a little tougher to do with this cue was drawing the cue ball, but that was probably from the hard triangle tip. i had to really bear down to power draw the cue ball. shooting a follow shot with it was easier than predator...and thats no lie.

the cue has a beautiful finish, and although it was made from a blank, the wood was beautiful. i would not hesitate to do business with him again.

if you want a responsive, stiff hitting cue, paul is your man. at least for his laminated shafts. i have not had the pleasure to play with his normal shafts.

also, the prices for his cues are cheaper than cheap. probably the best price for a custom sneaky.

try him out, you won't be disappointed.

That was a great review! Especially since it was concerning Paul's laminated shafts...which I have yet to try, since I am not a laminated shaft kinda gal...LoL. I can tell you that his standard shafts aren't too shabby either.

Paul is very accommodating, but also frank...he will tell you up front what he can/will do and not do, and why...no beating around the bush. He has a great passion for not only building cues, but pool in general, and is a great supporter of our local leagues. He's a pretty darn sporty player as well.

If you are a player looking for a well playing 60" cue, at an amazing price, Paul's your guy! :yeah:
