Paul Mottey s/p

I too have a 95 Mottey SP, ebony with the multi-colored butterfly at the bottom and it plays oh so well. Very stiff, hard hit. I think my friend paid $225 for it new out of a pool hall in eastern ohio wayyy back when and then gave it to me for a b-day gift a couple years later. Wish you well finding one for under 500, cheapest I saw was $450 and shipping a couple years ago. There are not many around. If you do get one, you will love it.

Can you even get a Mottey shaft for 250? Ah I remember the days of 175 dollar Scruggs sneakies.

It is Wood to Wood and piloted, I believe is the proper explanation of joint. The butterfly is Red, Green and Yellow. Signed Paul F. Mottey/95. I wish I had a job and some spare cash now. That James White butterfly SP is a nice cue floating around the forums here. I have seen these Mottey SP's show up on the forums/ebay about once a year and usually sell in the 500+-200 range.

mottey b/j

I had that cue of Josh's from 2001 - 2006. Poor but nostalgic pics - 1 just after acquiring it from Daytona FL - pre Paul's refinish, and 1 just prior to selling to Josh with it's "partner"
Enjoy it! Got it on ebay for 400. Figure 500-600 is good, very rare to see S/Ps without steel joint and collars.
