FYI--DO NOT, I MEAN NOT EVER PAY FOR AN ITEM, WHETHER IT IS A CUE OR ANYTHING ELSE THROUGH PAYPAL WITHOUT USING YOUR CREDIT CARD AS A SOURCE FOR FUNDS. DO NOT USE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT TO PAY FOR SOMETHING FROM SOMEONE UNLESS YOU 100% TRUST THAT PERSON. ALWAYS USE YOUR CREDIT CARD, IF YOU DONT HAVE ONE GET A CITIBANK CARD, THEY HAVE THE BEST BUYER PROTECTION IN THE BUSINESS. THE SKINNY, I PAID FOR AN ITEM THAT ARRIVED OPENED AND EMPTY, THE SELLER DID NOT INSURE THE ITEM, AND WE AGREED THE ITEM WAS TO BE SHIPPED INSURED, HE DECIDED TO SAVE A FEW BUCKS AND HERE WE ARE. BECAUSE IT WAS A NON-EBAY TRANSACTION PAYPAL WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO FILE A CLAIM, FOR MISREPRESENTED MERCHANDISE OR MERCHANDISE THAT IS NOT AS DESCRIBED. IF I HAD NOT WENT THR0UGH MY CREDIT CARD I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FILE A CLAIM AT ALL AND HAVE MY F**CKING BA**S IN MY HAND, ALLOWING THAT SELLER TO BE ABLE TO RIP ME OFF. Whoa! there's some good info there I know, but man I just can't get past the rambling. Some of those sentences don't make any sense
 
In short,,,, use a credit card thru paypal and not your checking/savings acct. with the credit card you have more protection and recourse for getting your money back..........mike
 
I heard of someone who used their credit card and still didn't get reimbursed for an item that didn't show.

Paulybatz, is there anything in the Citibank cardholder agreement that gives any reason to think they offer better protection for paypal scams than others?

Has anyone else ever had to do a chargeback against Paypal and succeeded (with their credit card company)? If so, which company was it?

Excuse the tirade...I really was yelling!!!!
Anyway, not all credit card protection is the same. Citibank is the best protection for online purchases and fraud and a million other things...I was not happy at all with Discover card...those are the only two that I have experience with...I like citi so much I have two, one for online and one for other purchasing...they have a great dividend card now as well.

Thanks for the great information Pauly. I went to Paypal after I read this and switched my payment option to my credit card instead of my bank account. I guess i've been living dangerously and have been lucky.

Wow....same here! Had no clue that using a bank account would be such a greater risk. I swapped to plastic, too! Thanks for the heads-up!

There is no way I would ever buy ANYTHING on E-bay and pay-pal is a nightmare. You are just begging for trouble.

Is that an option now? I tried to do that a year or so ago, and it didn't let me make credit card the default. Instead, I had to remember to do it manually EVERY time I buy something... Based on your comments I'll go look again.
