The PC 3102 type 4 router that came with the new to me lathe set up with taper bars died last night in the middle of a pass. Multimeter suggests an open field winding. Repair it or replace it? My other lathes are set up using PC 7301's on aloris mounts so the 3102 router mount is not conpatable. How reliable is the 3102 compared to the 7301 in your experience if you were replacing it for didicated tapering?

Checked cord...switch...brushes....bearing turn smoothly...did not slow down was making .020 pass when it died in the middle of the pass. Supposed to be an almost new trimmer as per the cuemaaker I got the setup lathe from. What else do I need to check?
Thanks, Ken Ken

The only other thing that makes sence would be a loose or broken wire that connects to the brushes, I had one like this, after that, Sorry.

Check it with an ohm meter to check for a short or open. look for a thermal heat fuse that might have tripped or burnt. try a lamp or corded tool in the same socket to rule out the recepticle. divide and conquer method.
