pechauer break vs McD Stinger?

I just picked up a McD stinger. I kinda had my heart set on the pechauer, but I took a flyer on the stinger because it would match my new BCM pretty well, and seemed like alot better value with the jump handle, etc.

I LOVED the way the pechauer felt in the store but the guy who owned the store wouldn't let me test hit the pechauer (lol, so I bought online instead).

Anyway, I have given up an honest 3mph with the stinger, without a noticeable increase in accuracy. This is over my old school Mcd break cue that felt alot heavier than my new stinger which is 19oz.

Should I flip out of the stinger and give the pechauer a run, or are we talking marginal differences here?

The Pechauer break is an excellent product and is more foward balanced. However if you experienced a loss in break speed and claim that your previous break cue was heavier, then I'd first start there. Out some weight in that stinger and then see if you still experience it. The weight of a break cue can make alot of difference. Like some people get higher speeds with lighter cues, while others need weight to pull it off.
Both are good products anyhow.

Well, I decided to flip out of the stinger and into the pechauer. Break speeds are back to normal. The pechauer seems more solidly built and feels better to my hands. I am not in love with the taper and I am on the fence about the black diamond tip.

My results have been pretty great though. I am back up to where I was speed wise, and I am squatting the cb in a way I was never able to do previously. In fact, Im not sure I have ever seen a cb 'squat' exactly like it does with this stick - it is wierd, it just rebounds off of the rack 3-4 inches and stops dead, and it isn't like a spin stop - it just seems to put 99.9999999% of it's energy into the rack.

I knew when I snapped the 9 in on my 2nd break with this cue it would be a keeper.

I am NOT in love with the looks of this cue. I got a good deal on the 'natural' stain, and the wood is pretty with lots of figure, but the stain color is pretty ho-hum, and the rainbow butterfly in the butt of the cue makes it look like a bumper sticker you might see in the castro in san francisco or something :barf:.

I wish I would have gotten the ebony stain now, but this was too good of a deal to pass up.

End of the day for me, it isn't about looks, but performance, and this cue flat does it's job.

I'm glad you enjoy the Pechauer break cue. The performance is great and I actually had a few friends who turned it down because of the looks. They owned Pechauer playing cues, were curious about the breaking cue and ended up buying something else because of the look. I also noticed on some that the butterfly isn't a real "clean cut" either.
I wish they'd do the same cue in a plain jane style, I bet it would draw more fans, ;)

How did you measure your break speed with such accuracy?

Did you use a "Juggs" gun or the Robt. Byrnes "flying off the table" method ...?

Willie

Ps Sometimes the difference is in the indian, not the arrow ...
