Pechauer cues ...

But what is perfect to you may not be perfect to me. There in lie's the 'custom' maker's realm. Pel
That is just my point; I (nor anybody else) can make a cue for everybody. IMHO, it's better to NOT be a jack-of-all-trades; I think you know the rest. I would rather take the time to master the way I build cues, not the way somebody else builds cues. If you want a cue like that other guy had, then ask him who made it, don't ask me to make one like it, and I’m sure others might (maybe) agree. If you wanted a basic Blud cue, I believe that would cost you around $650, would you ask somebody else to make a cue with Blud's standard specs, with a starting price of only $300? I wouldn't. I know a guy that wanted a Scruggs, but couldn't afford one, he went to a local maker (local to him, not me) too see if he could make a cue "like a Scruggs", and seeing as the local maker had (more than one) Scruggs, he made the guy a cue with the same specs, but it hit and played totally different. I really don't know if you see my point at all. I'm just rambling now :) . The way I see it, if you don't like the way a cue maker’s cue hits/plays, don't ask him/her to change their methods to suit you, find one you like.

Thanks,

Jon

Do you know who I am refering too? Did you moonlight with 'Miss Cleo"?

LMAO...I never did anything with Miss Cleo, but this Haitian woman outside of New Orleans sold me this Crazy 8 Ball that I flip over and it gives me the answers to everthing I ever want to know in life. Let me flip it over and see what it says for you......."I see something with the big letter 'H' coming into his life"..........I have no idea what that means, but it's probably bullcrap.
Although, I've never known it to be wrong. You'll have to decipher it......

No Jon, that's not what I mean. I am saying by custom I have input into how the cue is made. Materials, 4 pts - 6 pts, standard pts - floating pts, ivory - stainless - wood to wood, inlays - no inlays, weight exact to a tenth, shaft diameter to within .05 mm, taper to my specs, etc. etc. This is what separates the custom maker from the others, IMHO. Incidently, I am down to about two and a half years on Joel Hercek's list. When my name comes up I will travel the thousand plus miles to him and spend a couple of days going over what I want in a cue. After which he will be expected to create for me a work of art - and I will be expected to pay a bunch of money :D :D

Later, Pel

Can't desyffur, got nottin' to do with letter H. "Is that your final answer" or would you like to call a lifeline? :p

I've owned three Pechauers (my current playing cue is one), and they have flawless fit and finish. I've never seen one that wasn't essentially perfect. And I hove the way they hit.

A great cue for the money, IMHO.

The crazy 8 ball tainted with voodoo by the Haitian woman is NEVER wrong.
Sometimes the answer isn't what you might think it's pertaining to, but it is the answer. Go to your post with Jon, which was AFTER the one I made to you, for the clue. It's staring you in the face, and you said it................

Unless Jon means otherwise, I think you're both coming from the same place on this, maybe not. I think everything you mentioned above is expected from a custom cuemaker, but what you WON'T have any say in is the way that Joel or anyone else does the splices or his basic construction, which is his way of doing a cue and what makes it stand out from the rest. I think that's what Jon means. But if he meant you have no say in the butt diameter, shaft taper, joint type, weight, design, I don't think it would really be considered custom. It would be more of a spec cue or artistic design cue that you purchased based on his name and reputation, more or less like a piece of art from a big name artist.

To JON...can you make that a little clearer, comprade.

imho pechauer cues are the best cues for the money anywhere. i have been a dealer for them for over ten years and would never think of not selling them. also i can order any cue they have with any materials i want in them, as well as custom designing them myself wiyh my design, joint, shaft and/or butt taper or any other specs i want and i can get a completed custom cue in about 10-12 weeks, very good quality along with the best fit and finish anywherer. as far as being custom or production i would consider thier catolouge cues to be production but any limiteds or short run 1-25 cues i would say those are custom because those are the ones that joe pechauer does primarily all the work on himself.
