Well... in case you haven't heard about it... the absolute highest prize money event in 3-cushion billiards took place November 8-11. The LG U+ Cup 3-Cushion Masters is an invitation only event sponsored by the Korean manufacturer LG and boasts a first place cash prize of $55,000!!! Even more unusual is that it takes place in a Korean Shopping Center - basically near the food court at the mall... so to speak!
Anyway... Pedro Piedrabuena of the USA was one of 6 international players who were invited to join 10 top Korean players in a combination round-robin followed by knock-out event. Quite an honor and opportunity for the number 17 player in the world!
And... I wish I had better news... but Pedro had a crushing first round loss to an eventual finalist Quyet Chien Tran of Vietnam... and was eliminated.
