I live in PA and am very interested in the history of pool here (and the future).
I'll start with the Szambotis, Super Billiard Expo and Proficient Billiards.

Anything pool related is welcome.
Thanks

Valley Forge expo is great. Much to see. Many beautiful cues to look at. Great pool to watch. Even the amature players are good. Lots of fun things to see.
I went to high school in Northeast Philly. I met a man by the name of Peter Rabbit who showed how to play. He saw my friends and I knocking balls around. He showed us draw and follow. We thought we were ready to go on the road.
Pa. is a big state. If near Philly there are several places to play. Does'nt Fusco own a place in Center City? Bob Maidhoff owns a place just outside of Philly. There is a lot memorabilia in his place to see.

The expo is the only thing pool related I've ever gone to philly to see
and competed there. Tough competition there for sure and lots to
check out. I've heard there are some changes coming for this event.

Thanks for posting,

I live in South East Pa. The room owned by Bob Maidhof is Drexeline Billiards Club in Drexel Hill. Great room with history. Jimmy Caras played and Corey Deuel started there. As noted alot of history on the walls.

D&D Billiards in downington 15 years ago had huge talent for a small place.
Andy Toth (sp) and Joey Dipietro (sp) played there. When I was 17 and starting in action this is where you went to get tested. The room has moved since then and has very few players, but still hosts a yearly straight pool invitational with many recognizable faces.

I am pretty young as well so I don't have a large history knowledge.

Current:
The PA state tournament in Indiana is a must visit also. Great tournament with non-stop action this past year.

The Blaze and Joss tours also frequent PA often as well.

PM me if you need places to play or visit.

I may have to check out Drexeline and the State Tournament.

In Lehigh Valley, near Allentown. We have one of the largest pool halls in PA with Gallery Billiards with 40 9 ft GC's. Some really good players there, got a great shot here as well in Mike Miller and quite a few others in his caliber. Have the notorious Buzzy's Billiard's as room owner Buzzy was once a top tournament player and got alot of cash. Last time I was there Efren and Busty where there, Buzzy was woofing for a game with Efren but nothing ever came about.

Just a little shot from Buzzy that I could find on youtube....didnt even think there would be any.....lol

In Johnstown, PA (my hometown) we have Mully's Billiards owned by Danny Mulhollen who carries a pro card. His son Danny the 3rd just recently placed 17th I think at the Open in VF in 2007. Had a decent little showing at the US Open and is a superbly strong player who I think should make a little noise on the local level.

Also have Barms Billiards there.

Johnstown is also home to Mike McLain who was a double top 5 placer of a BCA tournement in Vegas I think out of close to 4K people.

PA is rich in some aspects with great players still around some up in the Northeast....McNally especially

Mully used to setup a display at our regional league championship
while he was in town for sprint car racing at Silver Spring raceway.
Great guy and a good player.

HMMM...who is this? I worked in and played out of the cue corner for about 10 years on and off with Mick.....when Pete owned it. Andy was my 14.1 teacher, along with Pineapple teaching me 9ball. That was a GREAT place to learn. 8 tables...top speed players and action....not to mention cards!;)

In this area there was also a lot of Bowling alleys with tables and action like Devon Lanes, Limerick Bowl, Jay Lanes....not to mention the clubs like Liberty fire house, Bankers pub, the Italian club, The big house, Fat Cats, these places were the haunts of all the top players around here looking for action. I only know the last couple of generations of players like Andy Toth, Dave Marks (Pineapple), Russel Parsons, Monte Nettles, Vine Commins (sp), Harry, Lou Johnson, this is a small portion of the guys in my small area....then you had Delaware....Reading....Allentown/Quakertown...Jersey and another killer lineup in each place.

i'm in altoona.

i don't know much about the history but i hear stories from the older guys.

i know the bushwacker and ginky have played here before.

it's pretty dead here now but back in the day i guess it was pretty strong.

only one pool hall(lots of bar leagues though) and it's struggles to stay open.

This is what I've gathered as well, I've heard about some rooms
near here (Harrisburg) that were hot spots and would like to
hear more.
