Perils of leaving your cue in the car?

What model ? Or put up some pics tomorrow if you like.

I have a hunch you'll be breaking it in until then...

Your hunch would be correct!

Actually, it is league night for me (there, I've gone and confirmed my lower-pool class for you all, heh) so I'll have plenty of opportunity. We have an in-house 8-ball tournament tomorrow night, too, so I'll be shooting a-plenty.

I dunno if I could figure out posting photo's here quickly, so here's a link to a website showing it off.

Oh well, thanks again, folks. It really has been enlightening, and very helpful. That cue will be inside tonight, promise!

Hey gang, looking for real-world advice.

Understand, I fully realize that temperature extremes are bad for cues. I get it. What I'd like to ask everyone here is what their real-world experience is with leaving their cues in their cars.

I live in Maine. It gets pretty cold in the winter, and for a couple of months in the summer it can get quite hot and humid as well. I guess I want to know how cold is too cold? 50 degress? freezing? Zero?
To give you a comparison. I live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I'm thinking its pretty comparable weather wise to Maine.

20 years ago I had a mid-level McDermott (don't remember the model #). I was a food salesperson and I carried that cue in my car for about 4 years winter and summer. Just a basic soft-sided cordura case. Never did any damage to mine.

Looks exactly like an old Viking I had, but Copper pearl rings...my daughter has it now. Nice cue...have fun with it!

I live in New Hampshire and I have left my playing cue, $400 mohawk, in my trunk nearly every day for the last 15 - 20 years. Now there are days especially in the winter were it feels like it might be a little warped but it rolls straight on the table. The biggest problem is trying to play with a freezing cold stick and getting it warmed up.

I have been doing this with my cues for the last 23 years without an issue. The three cues I have used in this time are a McDermott, a Schon and now a Mohawk.

I leave my cue in the car because I always want it with me in case I decide I want to play. If you play at the same place every time you may want to see if they have a locker you can rent.

I don't think I want to deal with bringing my cue with me when I leave the house everyday, bringing it into work, and then bringing it back into the house every night...too much effort and work.

I do recommend getting a hard case of some sort to protect the cue when it is in your car. It could very easily be damaged otherwise.
