Indiana pool legend Paul Bowman has passed away. I just got word today he died from a massive heart attack on new Years day. He was one of the midwests best pool players. He will be greatly missed at the tournaments by all that knew him. Although his game had deteriorated in the last couple of years due to health problems, he was always a threat to beat any player he came up against. I will have fond memories of the numerous times I played him and all the great stories of this Indiana legend. Rest in peace Paul. Sam

I too send my sympathy to, Paul's family, Sam.

Sorry to hear this! Paul was a great player. My prayers go out to his family.
May he rest in peace.

He was a lot of fun to watch and a tremendously talented player. I have not seen him play for nearly 10 years but his game left an impression.
Rest in peace my friend..

Paul - Thanks For The Memories.

My condolences go out to Paul's family. He is gone way too soon. I'm not surprised to hear he had heart trouble because he had "a lot of heart". We had quite a few great matches in Burlington, IA, Fort Wayne, IN, Columbus, OH, Detroit, MI and the best was in Greencastle, IN. He was a great competitor and a gentleman to play with. He always had a wonderful sense of humor.

PAUL - GO GET "THE NUTS" FROM LOUIE!

TY & GL

I was actually going to post this very message, mainly to let Sam know. I played a lot, and was around Paul alot in the last three years. He won two of the better little tournaments the week before christmas back to back. Was still playing pretty good, still having fun at the game. I sat with him often at tournaments, and always enjoyed talking with him. Missed the funeral, but I understand they put a 9 ball in with him. Thought that was a good touch to a man that loved to play the game.

Obit is here if anyone is interested

Thank you for the link to the obituary. I intended to drive up to the funeral, but had work scheduled for Wed. morning. Then the ice storm hit and we've been without electric for 4 days. I learned a lot from Paul by the many matches we had and the many times I watched him beat the well known champions who showed up at the tournaments. He was indeed a well liked person and a great player. I also heard they buried him in the jacket they got for winning the nationals in Vegas. Sam

No problem Sam. I didn't make it to the funeral either, so I don't know about the Jacket. I'll ask today, know someone that was there.

Never understood how he could shoot so well and drink so much, but he could. Always thought he was great to talk with, and play with. If he was just hanging around he'd get bored and start showing kids shots.
