Hi Benny,

i hope u didnt mark up the cue too much, and ur initial intention was not to order the cue for a profit .. as far as i know PFD makes only several of such basic cues for players. Such behaviour is generally frown upon by some cuemakers...and u may find that no reputable cuemaker may make a cue for u no more when words gets ard...anyway good luck with ur sale.

Maybe Benny is a cue dealer. Many makers have dealers that buy/get cues at significant discounts or even on consignment. I'd be very :) :) :) if dealers bought my products at or close to retail:cool:

Paul, you sound a bit put out at him for offering it for sale.
He got the cue, you got the money.

I guess I am missing something here.

Me too. Remarks like that from the cuebuilder sure don't encourage me to deal with him. It's one thing to say "sorry you don't like it" and mean it, and perhaps offer an adjustment. It's quite a different story to show petty offence and belittle Benny's shopping habits.

If I was betting man, I would say there's more to the story. If it was just a simple case of a guy buying one cue and deciding to resale it, I doubt the cue maker would care.

I don't know all the details of this story, but what I can say is that anyone contemplating doing business with Paul will be happy if they do. I can only speak for my experiences with him. He is very passionate about his work and a pleasure to deal with. He is also willing to talk to you and explain any questions that you may have....not a quality that you find in everyone.

I have heard players and other cuemakers knocking stuff made by other cuemakers, and have heard comments that Paul has come across as arrogant. From where I stand (player, collector, seller/trader) I would not want to buy a cue from any cuemaker who didn't think his stuff was jam up. What he may view as being meticulous (which by the way will always come back on the plus side), others may think he is nit picky or petty. If you order a cue from a cuemaker and agree on a price, whether significantly discounted or not, it is no longer the cuemaker's cue when the cash changes hands, and whatever the owner does with the cue is fair game. If he wants to burn it, who cares.

However, if the buyer does not get what he believes he paid for, the cuemaker should make an attempt to correct the miscommunication, and I think Paul would do this. Benny never knocked the cue, just said that he couldn't get used to it.

I know one cuemaker who has nothing good to say about any other cuemakers' stuff, and he can't make a 4 pointer with even points to save his life!!

Just my 2 cents.

Paul (PfD) is a great guy to deal with, he has vast knowledge to share with... Just that some personal problems and stuffs, therefore i am selling it off..

I think maybe that the cue might have taken so long to make considering the turning of the snakewood might have taken months just so it wouldn't crack. It's like anything you make if you took alot of time building it for someone and they just decide to sell it, it could be seen as offensive but it's just business. I can see both points of view in this case. I think the cue is beautiful but the hit might be different because of the snakewood forearm as to where the customer couldn't get used to it. Well Good luck with the sale. I think it is a very fair price and someone should take it off your hands very soon.
