**PFD & Murrell bumperless Hoppe Cues

I received these from Paul and Kenny last month, but this is the first time I've had a chance to take pictures and post them.

While both cues are bumperless Hoppes, that's pretty much all they have in common. Paul started with a John Davis full spliced blank, and made me a beautiful cue with a
stainless steel 5/16x14 joint. Kenny started with his own short spliced forearm, and added the beautiful barbell inlays. I requested this style, thinking I had thought of something
completely new. Kenny disabused me of that notion (seems that some guys named Szamboti and Balabushka might have done the same style just a "little" while ago). Even
knowing it was not original, I still liked the design, and had Kenny run with it. His execution was more than I could have hoped for, but about standard from what anyone who has
one of his cues would say. The last picture is of the perfectly matched joint protectors that Kenny also made for the cue.

Both Hoppe rings are ivory, as are the ferrules. The dots in all 12 barbells are also ivory, as is the piloted 5/15x14 joint on the Murrell cue (along with stacked veneers above and
below the Hoppe ring.)

Enough text, on to the pictures :D Chris

That is some serious fire power.
Just beautiful work, love the old school design, top notch craftsmanship.
Nice way to bring in 2014.
MCP.

im going to be different, I like the pfd, don't really dont understand the bumperless

Thanks for all the nice comments, folks. Snowmon should know the most about
the Murrell cue, as it seems he has 10 of them =)

Mikiemopa: The PFD may be used as a fully bumperless, or with the tiny rubber
bumper Paul added that can be seen in the last picture. I used to have a real
problem with bumperless as well, but the sheer beauty of them won me over.
Just personal taste, I suppose.

Absolutely love that Murrell. I'm starting to regret selling mine. I may have to start looking for a replacement...

Owning them both, I have to agree with the two differing opinions. I love the
PFD for the old school, understated perfection (at least in my mind) it delivers.
But I also love the Murrell for the way he took my vision (done via nothing but
e-mail back and forth), and created a very unusual, but still very beautiful cue.

As for how they play, Unfortunately I have no idea. I came down with serious
neck problems about a year ago, and am no longer able to play pool. But, with
the reputation that both Paul and Kenny have for making cues that play better
than they look, I'm sure both of these do play great!

I'm very glad that so many of you have posted your comments about them, and
am glad to have had the chance to show them off
