Phenolic > leather tip?

Anyone got a break cue with a phenolic tip who changed it to a leather tip?

I'm thinking of doing this. The phenolic tip doesn't hold chalk well, increases the chance of a miscue/poor contact, and I'm not convinced it actually improves my break.

I also cannot use it as a player when needed.

Would a hard/very hard leather tip do just as well?

Is it possible to replace a phenolic tip with a leather one?

Thanks!

I have wondered this exact same thing. I'd be willing to trade whatever advantage (if any) the phenolic tip provides in power for the control of a leather tip, but I wasn't sure if it was possible.

tips

take it to a cue repairman and they can trim off the phenolic so thats is flat then you can put a choice of good hard tips or different break tips on
if you are going to use it as a shooter also i would go to a hard leather tip like a water buffalo, sumo or kamui hard or super pro or more for just breaking the white diamond or samsara break tip or kamui hard black
