has anyone ever done an entire butt sleeve with phenolic? how about an entire handle with phenolic over the wood?? like a thin tube over the wood handle. is it too heavy or light? is it possible??

Butt sleeves are somewhat common. A handle doesn't make any sense unless it was bored out to 1" which would leave nothing at the top and why would you do this anyway?

I'm actually working on one tonight with phenolic. It has a sleeved butt, fat rings that will be loaded with inlays. Ivory, gaboon ebony and phenolic. Going to be a sharp cue. Doing it for blackboarowner. Believe at last count it will have 108 total inlays, black leather wrap. Its been a fun build.

I think that it is a great idea. I also like that it will be different. If it grows legs and disappears from the pool hall - God help anyone stupid enough to be seen with it after that. It sure will be easy to identify. Thank you Steve for taking on this project. It has been a distinct pleasure from the start.

Hank Korsiak (Cosair Cues) used to make his forearm and butt sleeve out of phenolic and then polished it. No need for a finish. He ran a wood core through the middle and they played good.

yeah, like that. I love the phenolic linen look, I guess you can call it the fiberglass of cues. like a fiberglass for a cars hood looks pretty cool ( on the right car) phenolic looks good for cues. I like the butt sleeve of all phenolic. I think after the polish it will come out great, and after a few years as it darkens it will look even better as in southwest style phenolic.
