Phenolic tip on Bunjee jump cue?

It looks like the Bunjee jump cue is a decent jump cue but it comes with a leather tip....isn't the phenolic tip sopposed to be best for jumping. And if so how bout putting a phenolic tip on a Bunjee jump cue, doesn't this sound like it would work well? Sorry for starting a new thread on this but I didn't want to miss any good posters....you folks really are a great deal of help. THANKS
 
I don't have a bunjee, but just had a phenolic tip put on my jump cue and it makes a tremendous difference. I can now get over a ball from about 2-3 inches away. Sam
 
I just put a phenolic ferrule\tip combo on my jump cue and man its even better than just the regular ferrule and phenolic tip and yes I did it my self on my own lathe yahoo for me !!!!!
 
the phenolic tip is the key ingredient here. The hardness of phenolic won't allow compression like even a hard leather tip will, so all the energy from the stroke is given to the cue ball & away it goes.

Some players even use Break Cues with a phenolic tip, for the same reason... but control on the Break Shot is sometimes sacrificed using a hard tip like phenolic. Some Players can get away with that.
 
I just purchased a new jump cue at the BCA's in Vegas from OMEGA billiards. It resembles a bungie alot but has a phenolic tip with a leather pad for better controle. It has to be the best jump cue that I have ever used, and working the shows every year I get to try them all.....ps also inexpensive.
 
The bunjee has a composite tip which is made of leather and phenolic resin. Rocky, the cue you bought IS exactly like a Bunjee becasue it IS a Bunjee. There is NO leather pad and even if there was it would not make a difference.

There is no phenolic tip on the market which performs ANY better than the Bunjee tip.

Hi Rocky, I didn't realize you worked for Predator. I have a question for you, I have the Predator break cue and I'm not sure how to keep the tip...should I rough it up with a shaper or hit it with a tip pic or just leave it alone and let it stay smooth like a phenolic tip? Fantastic break cue by the way. I'm still trying to get the nerve up to play with a predator shaft on my playin cue.
