Has anyone tried a phenolic tip on a Predator BK? If so, what is your opinion?

Been there, tried that.....It works well, the only thing is that with any phenolic tip, I seem to lose control of the cue ball. I switched to just a hard leather layered tip, and they break very well just like that.

I use this. It's not a BK though, just a standard 314 shaft.

To put a one piece phenolic on a pred dont you have to plug the whole in the tenon. I use a lepro on my bk but cut it down almost to the ferrule. It breaks like a champ and squats the ball.

yes, it's filled. The cue jumps really well also.

Just wondering ...

If anyone has taken the same model of Break cue,
say 3 or 4 BK's, had a different type of tip
on each one, and objectively tested them
(say, like they do on Platinum billiards) for speed.

Because from the results indicated on Platinum Billiards
among the top 4 or 5 for speed, there is only a minute
difference in speed for different cues with LePro tips,
hard leather, and phenolic tips.

The leads me to believe that all the tip hype on breaking,
is just that, and that there isn't much truth to it.

bk tip

I'm asking because i have a bk with a hard leather tip and i like it, but i'm thinking about getting a second bk shaft and putting a phenolic tip on it just to have something else. Sometimes tables play funny or i just want to change something up when balls are not falling on the break. I've used sledgehammers and didn't like the shaft taper. So i'm wondering if others have put that tip on bk shafts and how they play.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I have a fury J/b and had the phenolic tip sliced down and made it into a ferrule and had a leather tip attached to an extra shaft. Now I have the phenolic tip and also a regular tip to change things up and have options on the break. It looks cool with the black ferrule and the leather tip on it too :)

I like it

I have the Predator BK with phenolic tip. I got it from Seyberts. I like it. The BK is balanced well and it is thin. The tip is hard and I have never had to shape it. It does hit them hard and it does take time to get used to it. I also have a stinger but I like the BK better as it is a thinner taper. I used to break with a blud sneaky a long time ago and I liked it as well.
