Phenolic Tip Pics

I searched google/images for phenolic tips and saw a bunch of different combinations. Here is a picture of my Omen J/B's tip. Looking at some google pics I guess it is a G10 version. Is this one that is being banned or is it fine for now? Do you have pics of yours, banned or not? Should I just consider getting a new ferrule/hard leather or secondary leather tipped shaft?
Thanks!

that looks more like linen. the picture is too small. g10 is usually a clearish opeuqu color.

as far as the bcapl ban goes, i dont know anything about it....i play acs. as it is only applied to bcapl and not any of the other 100 league and organizatons around the world, it will probably meet with to much oposition to last.

edit to add:
i just looked at their website and its even kind of vague. this is what it lists on page 4 of the rulle book avaiable for download from thier website:

d. The cue tip must be composed of leather, fibrous, or pliable material. Phenolic cue tips are not permitted.

Yeah it looks like the canvas phenolic. Has the stripes down the N/S sides and criss cross down the E/W sides.

I believe the word "Phenolic" is being used to cover any tip that has been constructed using thermosetting resin. This basically covers every tip that Socks posted. If the rule that he posted is also true, it's rather ambiguous, as Phenolic tips by nature are made with lots of little fibers, hence "carbon fiber".

this is an interesting thread, and one I hadn't yet thought of til now. How will the refs know who is using a phenolic tip or not? Is the below photo (thanks, btw) what the refs would be looking for only? Are there more?

All you should need to do is have a cue maker or repairman machine the end flat, and then have a hard hide tip, like water buffalo, installed. That way your tip/ferrule that you now have can become a ferrule, only. That should be perfectly legal since most all ferrules in use today are classified as "phenolic": Aegis, Micarta, Ivorine, etc. It's not the phenolic ferrule that has been banned, it's the tip.

As for Trigger's question; phenolic tips make a loud "ping" when they hit the cue ball. I suspect that will be the main thing that will get the ref's attention.

Most won't know. Some tips are pretty obvious but it'd be really easy to sneak one by.
