How many of you have read the article by Yen Makabenta?
The gist of what I have come to understand is that the two entities in discussion simply want Filipino pool to go in different directions. The Billiards & Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP) wants pool to remain primarily an individual sport and while the other group Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) wants to make Filipino pool more of a team sport.
I can see the potential benefits of team play (like BCA, APA etc) but can also see some of the difficulties that will occur with placing professional players with amateur players in team events.

I have not seen a discussion of this subject and wanted to honor Mr. Makabenta by opening this item for discussion. While this is a Filipino concern, input from other sources like AZ would probably be appreciated if simply to see other perspectives.
Mr. Makabenta and the BSCP know that there is value in the legend of the great pool warriors of the Philippines and want to conserve that valiant image.
Unfortunately I don't know enough about the power or restrictions that the BSCP puts on it's player members to make sound judgment calls. It does seem at least to me that there should be room for leagues or team play to be established and why shouldn't the aging stars of Filipino legend be able to cash in on their life's accomplishments.
I don't see how the BMPAP can't expect the BSCP to lay down their life long achievements and simply turn over their hard work to the BMPAP either.
Hopefully, the two sides will allow the best to happen for the Filipino players.
The Filipino pool players have earned the world's respect for their abilities, their demeanor, their competitive prowess and should be able to maximize their earnings without losing relationships/friendships from either organization.
