As I read about the current Philippino Tournament going on with so many great players it is obvious that most of them if not all of them are managed by "businessmen" and their group of players (horses) that they manage are in their "stable". There is not a lot of clear details as to what these relationships provide for and it is very curious to me.
Is there any treachery by the players, dumping matches to earn bigger bucks? If not, why not and please don't say it is because they might be killed. That is always the chance that a killing could occur but there must be other reasons that these businessmen like PUYAT, NEGROS BILLIARD STABLE, PERRY MARIANO'S BOYS and I'm sure there are others.
I was wondering what type of financial arrangement is made that appears at least on the surface to work well for both parties, the players and the management. What expenses do the handlers cover? What money is split? What money is not split but earned by the player 100%? I'm sure there are different deals for different players just like contracts for professional athletes but it seems that the players don't mind having managers and wondered what the managers make on the player's winnings.
Also, is there a written legal contract that binds these players and if so, for how long. I imagine some of the institutions have lawyers who draw up the contracts and the lawyers would draw up the contracts in favor of their client but if this was the case, you would possibly see some dumping going on and you seldom here of this and this too is a curiosity.
