Pick a dark horse for the IPT.

Edwin Montal. If this money gets his drive back to where it was before he recently quit for poker I expect he will be a tough match for anyone on that tour.

Paul Potier is also going to surprise alot of people as a far stronger 8-ball player then he is a 9-ball player.

Nick van den Berg. He shot in a race to 8 eight rack in a row in the European Pool Championships 2005. He also was runner up in the 2001 Europeans.

The only Dutch player who won the European 8-ball Championship is current gold medal winner Alex Lely (also Dutch) www.alexlely.com

In the first event, "2005 King of the Hill" I expect to be keeping an eye on these guys to do good...

Hohmann
Hundal
Manalo
Morris

If someone wanted to give me some decent odds, Id take Manalo to win the
"King of the Hill" event.
Morris is another person I think will step up and break away in these events. But Hohmann's straight pool experiance will make him a very tough competitor, expect some jam-up, lock-nut safties out of that guy. I dont think Earl has the patience for pool anymore (sorry Earl no offense), but he just doesnt seem to be in it, almost like he just expects his opponent to miss for him; and gets pissy when he doesnt.
Efren might find himself a bit more snookered than he likes to be, with more balls to get in his way... although, he will probably pull more than a few rabbits out of his back pocket.

I am overly excited for these people; even though they let my incredible skill slip through the cracks, I cant wait to go watch these guys play for the big bucks...
I want to be a bookie for these events! @@^$##@()
Good Luck AZBer's, bring those monies back here and buy us a Javascript pool game for the forum! JK

Niels Feijen European straightpool champion 2002, 2003 AND 2004, The field included Hohmann, Ortmann, Immonen, Chamat, Hundal and all other European players...

Come on people I know you can pick someone who is a realtive unknown on the list,Cant you?

I like Leil (JR) Gay, he can really play for the stew!

I'll second that for JR. He is an EXCELLENT straight pool player (his high run is 330) as well as a One Pocket player. And with 8-ball being a stratagy game more so than 9-ball, I think his shot at the title is just as good as any champions...

I think the problem is that the better players usually rise to the top spots.

It would be nice to see a player come from obscurity to win an event or two.

No doubt, you ask people for a dark horse pick and they start throwing out the names of the champions. Some people really need to read the question or learn what a "dark horse" even is...

Efren snookered??????

I guess you never seen him play 8-ball. He plays as well as anyone. He gets around a one pocket rack where the balls are all clustered as well as anyone. He plays patterns well and is definitely a great shot maker. The biggest problem any of the players will face, is the slower cloth.
There are no dark horses.
