Pics of 9-pointed cues

Hi guys,

Does anyone have pix of 9 pointed cues, ie. 6 points on the forearm with 3 re-cut points over 3 of those points? It's cool obviously if yours has more than 9....I just want to have a visual of what it looks like to have points in the forearm that have some recut points over them, and some that don't.

I'm getting a new cue made and I'd really could use the help!

I know we've been over it before, but to me what you discribed isn't a 9 point cue.

I've seen Snookered's 9 pter SW. And its gorgeous

Don't think he has pics elsewhere, but if you come back to SG, do look him up!

Hi,

This is one of my collection, a South west cue 9 pointer, kind of old school style, simple design but definitely an eye catcher, enjoy the pix, hope this will do some help for your inspiration;)

Hi Jimbo,

I don't know too much about cue-making, so pray tell, what kind of a cue did I describe? I also do not recall a thread on this, perhaps you can tell me about it, or show me the link.

I see that the other guys in this thread seem to know what I mean...and besides, it was the cuemaker who suggested a 9-point cue to me. When I told him I wasn't exactly sure what it was, he described it to me and I just posted his explanation.

Hi Thingie,

Sure, I will look you up when I get home, and hopefully you can introduce us!

I have some samples of what you asked on my site, gallery 4 and 5.

Hi Michael Webb,

Thanks for the reply. Are you referring to these cues? They are very nice. I especially like the 3rd one.

HI Matt,

Thanks for the pix! They really help!

Hi guys,

I have another question about these sort of cues ---- I see that in some recut points, the outer point is very close to the inner point, and it looks almost like a veneer. I've seen some of Bender's work and his recut points come to mind.

Then in MATTY's SW pix, the outer points seem further away from the inner points. Does this hinge on the cuemaker's / owner's preference, or does this have anything to skill / difficulty level?

The third one is Amboyna with holly.
The bottom half of gallery 4 is all recuts and all of gallery 5. The closer the cuts the more accurate you have to be. It's amazing how much it stands out the closer you go.
Sometimes when you mix recuts with veneers the wider cut looks nice because it really seperates the points to make the actual work stand out.

Oh Mikey...you are being so technical.....you coming to Albany in the Spring Joss At the GOLDEN CUE.....i have a room for you at Red Roof Inn for Saturday night if you need it....................mike

I must be old school..but I'd call it a six point if it had 5 veneers.

I'm having a six point Amboyna Burl cue made now (1/1 by Chris Nitti). It has 3 - 4" ebony points with a 3 1/2" Ivory point recut into each, and 3 - 6" floating ebony diamonds in between those 3 with 5" ivory diamonds recut into each of them. (All lengths are a guess)

How many "modern called" points would that be?
