runscott said:I'm planning on building a page on 'old cues' at some point, but don't have enough to do it justice yet. Here's a before and after of my Hoppe conversion:

Yes, it's one of Jerry's. He should also be finishing up an old 'wedge' cue conversion any day now. I've attached my best guess as to what it will look like, based on conversations with JR, but he's designing and cleaning up dents, etc. I'm finding that the Titlist conversions play great if converted right, maybe because the wood is well-seasoned, the straight-grain maple forearms and full-splice...like a Stradivarius? It is an unknown but lighter wood - I would very much like to try a full-splice ebony.titlistsucker said:Beautiful work! Is it by Rauenzahn?
I have a couple of titlist cues in construction, 5 in fact. But so far... none of them have indulged in my calls in some photography work haha.. but i ought to be grateful, two of their waiting list time is in excess of 6 years..
Anyway once it done, i post pics. i expect 3 to be delivered in Feb.

I hadn't thought of that (cutting to 'move up' points). JR achieved a reasonable effect without having to cut the cue;however, by exposing another inch of the points he also made the cue look more like a non-Titlist '70s Brunswick (see the one that ended on ebay yesterday). On the wedge cue he had to cut and insert a handle;otherwise, it would have been too thin at the joint since it was a snooker cue.titlistsucker said:u are right about the hit. i got hooked on them, because a FULLSPLICE titlist cue hit supremely well. One pet hate of mine though, is to have the titlist cue cut and converted so as to make an impression that the points are close to the joint. Effectively the cue is no longer a fullsplice cue.
Personally the ebony Titlists or Hoppes looks best, and they seem to have the straightest points..
i was told the ebony ones are made by Rambow, but i wont concur on that...
Another thing i was told by a few cuemakers is that to make a proper conversion out of a ebony titlist, the weight would have to exceed 20 Oz

Also, the 2-piece ones were going for $275-350 up until this week - the last three on ebay went for $535, $561 and $560![]()
