Pin removal with induction heater

I have a cue that came to me today which has a stuck uniloc qr joint, and the owner cut the pin with a hacksaw and sent it to me.

Usually I just heat up the pin to change thread, but this is a bit more difficult.

I tried drilling then screwed in a screw extractor and heated it up and tried unscrewing, but it broke off the screw extractor! I guess I interfered with the temper of the steel.

Would this be a candidate for an induction heater? I don't mind buying one if it will work as it will save me a lot of time in the future.

Has anyone used one and can tell me this will do the job?

Thanks in advance for and help.

Remember that if you use a induction heater and the cue has a SS collar or metal rings, those will be toast in a matter of seconds.
If the pin is broken you might be best of with drilling that sucker out. If your lucky, the heat generated when drilling the pin will break the epoxy bond.

Ouch on both parties. He certainly didn't have to cut the joint screw. On your part it might be easier to try and get the broken piece of the extractor removed and continue from there. Whether to try another extractor and heat it eneogh to remove the screw or drill it out completely, plug it and start fresh.

I have used a pro unit once, and it worked awesome, but that was with an inch of pin sticking out. Not sure I want to spend $300 + just to remove pins. As stated above about the SS rings and collars, it will debond those quickly. I also now have a small unit that I got from banggood a few yrs ago and it works, on 5/16 pins but not strong enough for the large pins. The coil only fits over the exposed pin.
