Pin threads? My mystery cue...

question about pin threads, my Schon SP8 has a 5/16 14 from what I gather ?
Now it seems my a Schon shaft will screw on mystery cue, but not fit into the joint.
BUT, the mystery cue shaft will not fit on the Schon?
Just holding the shafts upright and turning the butt into shaft, with just couple fingers.
I see there is a 5/16 18 pin but you would notice that difference pretty quick.
I'm at the point now, if I don't hear from the original owner, I guess i'm going to have to learn to put pics on here )

I have seen this happen before, with Schon it was with Joss shafts and cues.

I have a few cues where one cue will take multiple shafts, but some shafts only fit one butt.

I have both 3/8-11 pins and carom pins (in the shaft) that exhibit this.

I think it is a slight variation in the thread type, but I'd defer to joseph in California on the matter.

Take a better photo of the pin. It looks like a custom Palmer with possibly a Szam blank.
