Anyone from Southeast Arkansas or close to it? I recently moved to Monticello. Nothing much to do around here so I'm looking for some places to play. Maybe some tournaments or just some nice halls.

Thanks in advance,
Jon

Hello Jon, I lived in Warren for 30 yrs, then Texarkana for 15, and been in Arkadelphia the last 4...i've Never known a nice pool hall around your area Ever, the "NICE" ones are in Pine Bluff,Little Rock, or Hot Springs.

I've found action at a private club in Lake Village, called the Golden Eagle, its a hit or miss deal.....and their is action over in Greenville, Miss.......not far from Monticello......75 miles

Now if your into playing in a few dumpy halls and bars you can go to El Dorado, or Crossett..( i've won wheel barrels full at these before)..but I'll play with the Devil, so it never bothered me much!......

It use tobe a few hole in the wall pool halls at McGhee and Hamburg, but I don't suggest you trying them out!

If you make a trip over to Texarkana,Ar. go to "Shooters" on Sunday's , they'll have a 8 or 9 ball tourney that night( real nice place! ).....better have your "A Game" with ya that night, all those boys were taught by "Country Calvin" and he's around their too!

Now if your 21yrs. you can go to Warren,( 15 miles from Monticello) theirs a private club on Hwy. 8 north, just about a mile or two out of town on the right, called "Spanky's" that has a 8-ball tournament on Wednesday nights! a band on Friday & Saturday nights...( nice people & nice place) a few good shooters for country boys!

good luck,

Better call and make sure that Shooters is having their 9 ball tourney before you drive all the way there. I drove 60 miles from Mt Pleasant TX to play in it and then they only had 8 show up so they decided not to do it. It is a double elimination, handicapped, race to 4 tourney. Some good players there - some not so good! I have heard that they are opening one up again on the corner of Texas Blvd and State line - it was pretty nice. You should be able to find all the action and tournaments you want in Shreveport- Bossier though. Best of luck to you!
