This is a stab in the dark, but here goes. I'll be in London on Sunday and Monday and I would like to play some snooker (never played snooker before, but for a pool bum, it seems like a cool international take on cuesports). I plan to play pool/billiards/whatever involves a cue in the miscellaneous destinations my wife and I are visiting accross Europe this summer. It will provide some cool photos for my home room as well. Does anyone have any suggestions for the London leg of our journey? Thanks.

You might make more contacts in the UK that way.

Definitely get your butt onto the snooker forum and pre arrange a few fames with someone off there. Ideally you want to get into a place where you can play for fou or five hours in a quiet club perhaps during the day where your not queuing up for a frame because thees only one or two tables (which is what you'll find in most political or working mens clubs) and stay away from the UK's biggest name in snooker clubs "Riley's" as the majority of them are crap with duke box's large screen TV's and poker places nowadays full of kids playing UK pool on rubbish tables.

Dont have a clue where to recommend in London though sorry. The only thing I'd ever recommend in London is the way out of it.

Where are some of the better rooms outside of London?

I imagine only a pro whose done exhibitions around the country can really answer that one, kinda like asking who makes the best cue as most have only ever played with one or two.
Personally i've played in perhaps 20 different venues mostly around the black country and what can be described as an excellent club can be the pitts in a matter of months under a new owner and the same vice vesa.

I play mostly at the one club now duing the day as i've retired and can take advantage of the cheap day rates of £5 fo 5 hours. It has 12 decent tables in an air conditioned room owned by a couple of Indian guys. The pool/ dukebox / bar / Big screen TV / food area are in another and thats the way most would have it.
