I'm visiting friends in Ellijay this summer and was wondering if there are any places to play within an hour or so of there? I've visited many times over the last twenty years, but this time I may stay long enough to shoot a few racks. Any pool rooms or bars to recommend?

Best,
Mike

Marietta Billiard Club is off 285, NW of 85. its johnnys place. VERY nice with 45+/- tbls plus barboxes in the side room. food. liquor.

but Mr Cues is where most go. off exit 89ish east of 85 - ask JoeyA for his contact. the guy is a great cue repairman and works out of this room.

theres another off exit 109 Pleasant Hill, west, but i cant remember the name. its near Olive Garden in a strip on the right.

Did you say 45 tables ???

yes. give or take 5. i counted a few times...but after the Royal Flushes with JA, i forgot my exact count.;) it is a nice hall, full-service, with JA to boot, in a strip away from the mainstream yet easily accesible.

the chick at the front door is goth with black dye, tats, and piercings. (maybe shes gone now) clientele is mixed, so you should "know someone" (like JA). its safe - considering Atlanta, but as always if youve got cash - be carrying.

Marietta Billiards Club off of 120 loop also has a great cue repairman who's there on Tuesday and Thurday evenings..., Kevin Wright..
Mr.Cues and MBC are both great places to play, I've never had a problem at either one, I'd say MBC has a little more elbow room though..enjoy wherever you go :)

I appreciate the replies! I'll definitely visit Mr. Cues and JA's establishment. They sound like the best of the lot.

I heard there were a few places in or near Kennesaw, like Pinky's and the Kennesaw Billiard Club. Any good?

I'm surprised Ellijay has anything going on. It seems like a pretty quiet little town.

You better watch out in that parking lot at Archer's place.

actually Ellijay is not ne Atlanta, more nnw and more convenient to I-75 travel. the tables at mbc are almost without cloth now as they have not been recovered in 2 yrs or more and the food sucks. night time in the parking lot can become worrisome. Cues on canton rd only a couple of miles from I-575, would be my choice because of location, tables recovered about 6 months ago, food is great, free pool for buying lunch, an action table (diamond 9 ft just recovered) and I have seen games for $10k many times on that table. there are maybe 20 9 footers and 8 or so 8 footers. then there is Kennesaw billiards off I-75 and wade green rd & cherokee st (1 mile off xpressway). gold crown 9 footers just recovered last week! 24/7 and always action there especially 1 pocket.

WOW. That's a big place. And they now sell Magic Chalk to boot ;)
