Play perfect, and still loose.....

This has to be the hardest game in the world. I missed 1 ball in a race to 7 (just for the table time) and lose the set up 6-3...... .

I can't think of any other game in the world where you can play perfect, and still lose. You can make mistakes in many other games/sports, and still come out on top.

This game is so difficult!!!!!. I have major respect for players that can make some type of a living in this game. I can see why Fabio Patroni hit his head off of the table.

PS. I obviously didn't play perfect by missing one ball. The table was breaking very tough aswell.

Yup, no doubt. This is what keeps us all coming back. The game is a great challenge, every time out. Sometimes we all take for granted just how difficult some of the typical shots can be on a pool table, yet we are up to the task more often than not.

You can play great and still lose or play lousy and win.

Personally, I'd rather play great if I were to lose.

I hate lewzing, especially when you play well. Like Gregg said, It is what keeps you coming back.

I got into a cheap 5 dollar set the other night, race to 5 and I gave him 1 game on the wire. I had him down 4-0 and figured I had it locked up and I'll be damned if he didn't get to 4-3 before I sank that last 9. It should have been 5-0. Oh well, I still won.

I'm with you Barbara. I would much rather play well and lose, than play badly and win. We won't even get into the play bad and lose scenario.

You did not play perfect.
You missed a ball.

Now if you play at the level where you only miss one ball and lose, who were you playing ... Johnny Archer?

If you had played perfect you wouldn't have missed that one ball:thumbup:
It's a game from hell that's for sure:grin-square:

I've said this before but it bears repeating. Don't get too hung up on playing perfectly. I've been part of three matches where one of us played perfectly. The perfect player only won one of those matches.

It's better to play the way that gives you the best chance to win. Sometimes that's not perfect.

Closer examination will almost always reveal other minor mistakes. A bad kick, wrong side position. It's very difficult to look at your game objectively. Just MHO.

So what is the moral of the story? You can dog it and still win sometimes? On the bright side, if you beat him 5-0, you may have lost a customer.

At least you got to shoot

Wait until you run into someone and you lose the flip....and
NEVER shoot!

Funny story...about 7 years ago I was playing Shawn Putnam in a tourney and he won the toss. He broke and didnt make anything. I pushed out to a jump shot that wasnt a gimme...he jumped, made it and ran the rest of the set out. 7-0 and all I did was dog the push shot.
