Hello ,

Back in the Day's late 80's I purchased my 1st cue, A players Cue . I worked and saved my money to buy it , I believe I was about 12 years old or so . It played really well and I liked it. The logo then was the Players in the rack with the balls, I liked it alot better than the new logo. I have read that the new players are manufactured in the same factory that builds lucasi cues and such in China . Where were the old cues built , Was Players always built in China or did they end up there like alot of brands thru the years . I liked the old logo alot better than the new one for sure.

They were always built in China as far as I can remember.

Some of the cue brands that are made in China were formerly being made in Taiwan.

When the cost of labor went up in Taiwan a lot of the companies moved their operations to mainland China. Just like everybody else in the world did.

Ah-ha , It just seems everything in the country is either made in China or Mexico it seems anymore. I didn't know if the older Players were made there then or not, Back then Quality mattered. Today , How cheap can we make it seems to be the norm. Thanks my Friend

Players is a brand owned by Cue and Case, same as Lucasi and Dufferin. They are all made at the Universal/Hamson factory in China. Predator cues(except for Revo shaft) and most ADAM are made there also.

Like guitar makers, even now almost every larger guitar company has 3-4 ranges of instrument models, US made, Japan made, Taiwan made and China made as the cheapest. McDermott is doing the same type of thing with their Star and Lucky line.

Don't confuse 'cheap' with 'lower cost'. The cues made in this factory are very well made. They are capable of everything from low-end decal cues to higher-end cues such as Lucasi, Predator, ADAM.

Someone in high-end manufacturing once told me that China reputation for making junk is overblown. China makes what the customer asked and paid them to make. If you asked and paid for junk, you get junk. If asked and paid for high-end you got high-end.

If the companies ask for cheap junk, dont blame the manufacturer for filling the order.
