players weight bolt

Anyone happen to know the size of the weight bolts in Players cues? It looks like a 7/16" The next question is where can I get bumpers for this type? All the ones I have from Atlas and other places are always a smidge to small for the hole. I have a customer that wants the stick made heavier, and he lost his butt bumper. Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,
To the best of my recollection, the bolt is a 3/8 x 16 with a L. Phillips hd.(flat hd mach. screw). As for the bumper, if you have one that is just a little too small, you can wrap the plug with masking tape to build diameter. As an added precaution, place one drop of CA in two spots 180 degrees apart from one another on the flat lip of the bumper that contacts the butt cap. It won't come out on it's own, ever. Worst case scenario, you go in between the bumper & butt cap with a razor blade & cut the glue points when he wants to change the wght. again. You know he will.

A 3/8ths bolt slides right in without needing to thread it in at all. but it's not a 1/2 " either. This is the same for a J+S cue that I dealt with recently. I hope it's not metric:mad:

Hello Dave, they used to wieght bolts in the players cues. If the has a push-in type bumper it is 7/16 - ? If the cue has a bumper that is held in by a screw it is 3/8-16.

If you are looking for a push in bumper that will fit try a Meucci Bumper, it will be very close.

Oh and by the way, you could contact Cue and Case the distributer for those cues, they will sell you extra bumpers. I currently do not have any bumpers in stock, however, I do have a number of the weight bolts. What weight do you need? I can send you one, for free, let me know.

Hope this helps.

I think Some of those cues were balanced without a weight bolt. Not sure which you have, but I ran accross one like that before on a wrapless cue My buddy sold a customer that wanted It heavier, and even the weight bolts they supplied My buddy with by request didn't fit. In fact there wasn't even any threads, just a bore, and I think it was too large also. Seems like the bolts they supplied were 3/8 also, so possible they were just the wrong ones.

Craig Is correct though, You could contact Cue and Case, and see if they can help You out. Just make sure You explain your situation, cause Like i mentioned, My buddy still ended up getting the wrong ones when he went up there, but I don't think He took the cue to match them up with when he did.:) Greg

Try a 7/16 -20 if it is a fine thread. Don't force it. Some of the older Meucci cues are like this. Looks enormous.

Any Idea what size the griffith line that cuetix handles has in them?

I have an older stock cue a guy recently had me cut the bolt down to 18 oz total on, then decided he wanted another cue We had instead, because he didn't realize it didn't come with 2 shafts. anyhow now a girl wants the cue but wants It closer to 20oz

The bolt is huge looking like .480 to .550 diameter, and has a flat bottom type thread. I haven't measured the count yet though. I have access to just about every bolt they carry, but nothing listed for that cue. Guess I need to call, but I'm curious what size and pattern it is.

Thanks for the help guys and thanks Manwon for the offer, but I went to my local Home depot and bought a stick of 7/16 x 14 threaded rod, cut a piece of the right length and it fit like a glove. I cut a slot at the top with my dremel for a screwdriver to fit. Sometimes the simple fixes escape me for a minute or 2
