Playing on poor quality tables

I shoot a good game. I am a 7 handicap in tap and have a high run of 56 and avg 20 balls/inning in straight when I have time to play. When the tables roll true, my decisions and play are consistent. Once I play on a bad table my game goes to sh*&. I don't know how to correctly deal with poor rails and raggy cloth. Anyone with an answer please let me know.

When you're up against bad conditions, play conservatively. You adapt by toning everything down a notch. Play closer position ---Focus on getting the correct angle for your next shot rather than rely on your ability to use spin. If you get bad on a shot, think twice about using spin to get to the next shot. Consider a safety option, even though you normally would be able to get out of the problem.

Without realizing it, some players play very loose position because they are so good at spinning the cue ball, so they can pretty much get position for their next shot without too much trouble. But when the table conditions are poor, they will find themselves confused and in trouble because that option is no longer available. I don't know if you're one of those players. I am, so I'm speaking from experience.

It does sound familar. It makes me think I should step back and see if I am placing too much spin on the ball. Instructors and players alike have said I have a nice stroke but speed and spin have been my enemy. Looks like I will have to drop it down a notch. Thank you for your response.

Years ago on the road we had to play on very junky un level tables with nap cloth, and had to learn how to hit the balls firmer and kill the cue ball. You couldn't play finesse pool on these type of tables like you can now with fast simonis cloth on tables that rolls true.
 
99.999999999% of the time the equipment will play closer to perfect than you will..

worry about what you do... it's the only thing you can control.
