Playing surface hight

We all have seen stuff enuf to just know ie. football field length, pool table field hight, 7ft, 8ft, 9ft ect. So when you come across something not quite right your minds eye spots it immediately.
Well I came across this "tall" table and knew by looking at it that it was not within regs or specs.
It got me to thinking about it. 30 years of playing and I could not tell you the standard hight of a pool table's playing field off the deck.
So here I am asking, what is the standard dimension?

Whatever the standard is, it's too low.

I am begging you, please, and sending a plea out to the universe - somebody out there I implore you to raise the height of pool tables.

Way too low. Just like the standard for pretty much everything else including toilets and countertops.

People are taller than than were 100 years ago.

I wish they would raise them up an inch or 5.

I am 6' and 31'' feels ok for me, what is the max height allowed. Anythig less than that I feel unconfortable

I was thinking about this the other day. Standard counter top height (36") would be good. @ 6'4" im not a giant, but I play low anyways, and it kills by back after a few hours in the pool room.

I am 6' 1" and I dont like playing on low tables but I also dont really want them to be more than 30"-31" because there would be shots I could no longer reach. I feel I have an advantage over a shorter person playing on a 7' table, I can reach a shot where the cue ball is only 6"-8" from the far short rail reaching all the way across the table, obviously I cant do that on my 9' table. The disadvantage is at bars that have limited space. There are times the tables are too close together for me to be comfortable or a wall may interfere with my feet but that does not happen real often.

+1

Not to seem braggadocious, I'm 6'5", and there aren't too many shots I can't reach, that another player would need a bridge for. And when I played in the bar league, I don't ever remember using a bridge for any shot.

A taller table could hurt my game :grin-square:

Move to Canada. Some of our tables, like the old Dufferin tables, are higher (reflecting, I think, the influence of Snooker in Canada, with Snooker tables being higher - 33.5" to 34.5").

I move back and forth between playing on Dufferin tables (at one pool hall) to my home Gandy and Diamonds at another hall and I notice the difference.
