Playing with hard phenolic tip

Anyone ever played , with super hard break tips? I have been playing a Jacoby edge break shaft with phenolic tip (turned down to 13 mm and pro taper) and really it plays great, and almost never miscue. I do however keep it well chalked and roughed up.

I played with a hard tip that sounded like plastic but was not a phenolic, even if it held OK with spin, how it feels hitting off center would make me not use enough spin on my shots. I actually played will with it as far as making shots but it just felt too odd for me to play in a comfort zone with it.

There was a guy that was shooting with a break shaft where the tip and ferrule were one peice, someone told him it was a playing shaft and he refused to believe me for some reason. Every time he'd spin the ball, he pretty much miscued and the cueball would squirt to the size. About a month later he started using a regular playing tip.

I play <sometimes> in a room with some tight spacing. when the CB ends up at certain points and I need to shoot in certain directions, my jump cue is the only cue short enough to make the stroke without serious jacking up.

I find that I can apply plenty of english {draw, follow, left, right} with the phenolic tip, almost as much as with my hard tip.

I usually play with a Tiger Jump Break Tip.
Only get the English I want and no extra.

I play with a Jensen Milk Dud. Super hard, but I enjoy it!
