Mr. Guninger, Please allow me these few questions (long):

I will attempt to put this post together without my normally sarcastic, dry and at times, offending tone. First I will preface the post with a short story, and then ask a few questions.

As children first attending school, what is the goal of that attendance? Why do we as youth have to attend school? It is basically because at that young and impressionable time in our lives we were a combination of clay and sponge-like composition that allowed us to be molded by those of greater intelligence and we could (hopefully) absorb some of that knowledge.

This "training", if you will, allowed us to grow into the lives most of us know today. We had patient teachers who explained long division over and over and over again until we "got it." American History and English Literature, although never fun, helped us to learn about this country and who and what made it so great.

At our graduations we hugged those teachers, those instructors, those who helped shape us into the young adults that we had become. We thanked them from the bottoms of our hearts, some of us with tears in our eyes, for their dedication, patience and the hard work they invested in each of us.

Today, many of us can look back on those formative years and recall images of those who had the greatest impact on our lives and the direction it went in.

That's the upside. Now, for just a moment, imagine it went something like this from first grade on through High School:

Student in the first grade:

"Teacher, I can't keep the colors inside the lines. Can you help me?"

Teacher:

"My God! How many times do I need to tell you this? If you weren't such a little moron you would understand the correct way!"

Student about to complete Elementary School:

"Mr. Jones, Is there any advice you can give me about Junior High School? Is there one area I should focus on?"

Teacher Jones:

"As stupid as you were in grade school, I would suggest you just drop out now and save your parents the anguish of knowing you'll never move onto High School. You're obviously just a moron."

Student about to graduate High School:

"Principal Smith, I want to thank you for the opportunity the education I have received here at Anytown High has given me. I feel I am ready to tackle college and make you proud!"

Principal Smith:

"Don't thank me you little moron, thank the very generous teachers you had that knew you couldn't pass without their generosity. College? Boy...you really are a moron. If you want to make me proud, just cut your wrists now and give me the comfort of knowing you will never cause another gray hair on the head of an educator."

Where would we be if our educators had treated our potential and us with such a callous attitude?

This brings me to my point:

As a person who absolutely loves this game of pool and as one who understands that he will probably never be any better without professional instruction, I would be faced with these questions,

  • "Which instructor would be the best for me and my game?"
  • "Which instructor has demonstrated the patience to help others with their games?"
  • "Which instructor is professional in his demeanor and represents his profession with pride and dignity?"

And these questions bring me to Mr. Larry Guninger. How is it we as students of the game, are to believe the claims this man makes, respect his belittling responses to sincere questions and to ever seek his advice and guidance on a "pay for lessons" basis?

It is by no mere coincidence that Mr. Guninger has been prohibited from posting on other billiards websites. How long and how many warnings must the Webmaster of this site administer to Mr. Guninger about his language and tone before he follows in the footsteps of the two other frequented forums?

I hope these questions have been posed in a non-confrontational manner, one that won't allow Mr. Guninger the foundation for labeling me a "moron" and most importantly, for the Administrator of this site to gain insight into the wishes of those who make this forum a pleasant one to visit.

Respectfully,

Ken Kingan

Ken, baby, lighten up .

You can only be offended if you take the offender seriously.

I would rather see FL ranting than read about table covers.

It is impossible to offend me but I appreciate the sentiments.

Those who know me also know I am centered and comfortable with who and what I am am. Yes, I do have goals and one of them is to never be a crabby old man.

Ken the Unshakable

Hi,

I will offer this observation. When Larry showed up here at this billiard forum I was wondering how long it would take for you to sign up here to continue your useless, time consuming, space consuming, prattle. (PRATTLE) = (sound that is meaningless, repetitive, and suggestive of the chatter of children)

I told Mike and Chuckles to watch you. Sure enough you are at it again. You type line after line of meaningless PRATTLE so you can lerk for hours reading what you typed hoping someone will respond. I am sorry Ken but I vote that you and Larry be banned from this forum.

You had the good sense to leave here the first time and the only reason you came back was to be confrontational with Larry. I will be the first to admit I don't even know who Larry or you are but you are both boring! :p I am sending another request that this
prattle mine and yours be removed LOL

Cheers,

Gremlin

Wouldn't this be "prattle" by your definition as well?

Mike knows me and my respect for his board. Unlike many, an email from him with his requests would be strictly adhered to, unlike that of others.

I respect your feelings but thus far, they are yours and FL's only.

Regards,

Ken

obsessing about Larry

Why do you spend so much time worrying about what others do? You spent all that time with you analogy just to state the obvious, there are good teachers and bad teachers. In school you have no choice, as an adult you can choose who you want to associate with. My guess is you and Larry will not be having dinner together any time soon, "SO WHAT". I have read all these billiard boards for a long time and I think you may need a hobby or maybe get a life and stop obsessing about Larry. "IT IS JUST A STUPID INTERNET BOARD". My last and only word on the subject.

tap...tap

It's not an "obsession", I assure you. I only have a problem with Mr. Guninger's language, his demeaning responses to those sincere questions posed by others wanting to learn and his constant references to players of lessor ability e.g., "s/l 3's and bozos who can't run three balls."

Wouldn't that be the type of player he would want to help rather than bad-mouth ?

Regards,

Ken (obsessed with Pamela Lee Anderson but not Mr. Guninger.)

i think the gunninger is somebody because the high priestess of CCB( that's ms crimi) said so, and she walks on water on THAT planet.

fast larry has issues beyond the need to be recognized, and may in fact be stewing with utter contempt for others, what society has dealt him, or that fate has passed him by. who knows. he's no different, imo , than someone like ray martin or johnny ervolino or a slew of old pros who will say, "learn the hard way, like i did"....only fast larry is more,,,,,,,,,,rude, and maybe the other oldsters just don't own computers. these are all bitter people.

so, just as there's no point for him to make his presence felt in that manner,,,, there's also no point in you bringing on all this up by posting a thread on the issue. save yourself the irritation. look at all that time you wasted, irritated, as you typed that long post. i mean, there are times when i am posting, and i stop after a couple of sentences and say to myself, "what the f***, this ain't worth it".

mike will do something IF he feels he has to do anything.

mike will do something IF he feels he has to do anything, so let it go.

I couldn't agree more. Your analogy was perfect.

Consider it "let go" but at least respect the fact that I didn't post in the interest of stirring Mr. Guninger up or to promote his fastidious usage of the unprintable and only posted to get others thinking about the reasons behind the man's reactions to most of us.

For someone who might be a newcomer to the game and approaching this forum for advice, I would hate to think what they are thinking after having been responded to in the manner that Mr. Guninger chooses to respond to "s/l-3's" and the rest of us "morons."

Regards,

Ken

The problem is nobody wants to read this garbage and it should be stopped and these creeps should return back to ccb and continue to trash each over there and stay off az.
Fast Larry Guninger:D

I think the chat rooms should be open to all. The forums give folks a chance to express their opinions, which may differ from time to time. Why is it necessary to label fellow posters as "these creeps"?

I have not agreed with Gremlin's opinions on some subject matters, but I really do enjoy his contributions to AzB, as I also do enjoy Rackmup.

I've been on this Forum for months now and sometimes you have to know when to say when!
This is the best Billiards Forum on the net IMO and I'm sure many others. You can ask any question related to pool that you want, you can search for a product, you can sell a product, you can get give lessons and tips, you can even voice your opinion IF IT IS IN A GENTLEMANLY MANNER and not "slamming" another member of this board. If you read something, either a question, a poll, any post in general and YOU DON'T AGREE with it and can't say anything positive about it...DON'T POST ANYTHING on that particular post. Why can't you just leave it alone. I read EVERY post on this forum, if I read something that to me is going to steer away from what this forum is really about, I don't read it anymore.
So basically, if you don't have anything nice or productive or positve to say, then don't post anything!
KEEP IT REAL AND KEEP IT STROKIN'!!!

In not wishing to bend someone in a direction that might make them break, please clarify for me...

...If I disagree with a post but wish to stand on the side of what is right, just and proper, am I to:

  • Refrain from voicing my opinion and cower with my tail between my legs?
  • Agree with the poster as to not offend even though I have another spin on the subject?
  • Voice my opinion but in a calm, gentlemanly manner without profanity, vulgarity and sexual inuendo?

I just want to "do what is the accepted norm" here at AzB.

Ken

Some posters get angry and post nonsensical ramblings, some posters just ignore keeping unpleasant thoughts to themselves, and then there are those folks who attempt your choice number three.

It may be that FL enjoys the attention and takes pride every time he squats, and we get caught up in his web of deception -- or should I say destruction.

ManlyShot- you nailed it on the head!
haha... tap, tap, tap!! (couldn't resist)

Ken- Post anything that you want, just do it respectfully! I guess what I was trying to say was, if what you're going to write is ungentlemanly or vulgar, don't write at all! You have to voice an opinion otherwise why would there be a forum needed?
Keep the posts coming Ken, you're on the right track IMO!
