so the other night i was messing around with my friend and at the begining of the night i could stroke fine.. then all of a sudden i lost it completley and now i cant stroke for shit but this is a huge problem because i have money cup tommorow.. so can anybody please give me some quick things to practice to get my stroke back?? thanks alot

lol dude you are screweddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

no but seriously.......hmmmm
try shooting with your eyes closed......follow thru and just freeze like that......then open your eyes........is your stick out in front of you......pointed straight.........your back hand should almost be touching your chest. Keep doin this until its like that when you open your eyes.......then start shooting with your eyes open but maintain what it felt like with them closed.

if that dont help try something else:D

Try this: Put an object ball 2 diamonds down (On the foot string) and 1 diamond in from the corner. Put the cue ball 4 diamonds down (on the center string) in direct straight line to the corner pocket.

Shoot this 10 times. If you miss more than once move the cue ball 6" closer to the object ball. If you make it 10 times move the cue ball back 6" and repeat. Keep doing and moving the cue ball back 6" every time you complete a set of 10 and move it forward whenever you dog a ball.

HTH. Good luck in your money cup.

Go to a popular room

and have the best player there watch you stroke and hit balls. It is probably something you are or are not doing in your stance and stroke that you are not aware of. Listen to his advice, and get your form straightened out. Check your biorythim and see if your mental cycle is at low tide ... lol

Shooting one handed always helps me get into stroke.

you might've just missed a few easy shots, and then started thinking about it way too much, i find that i shoot the best when i'm in a rthym and not even thinking about pool.

Usually i do this by either either listenin to music on an MP3 player while shooting, humming, or singin..... i may look/sound retarded, but it usually helps me get relaxed and to the point where i'm not overthinking my shot and just letting my stroke and fundamentals take over

Its in your head change your outlook to a I'm going to play good attitude and you will play better.

renard, replace the desired effects of the aforementioned crutches with a more desireable replacement. A little meditation, breathing exercises, green tea, whatever is acceptable to you. In other words, chill out. Don't think about it so much and don't come down on yourself if you blow it.
On the other hand, you should have at least good fundamentals and mechanics going for you. Grip, bridge, stance, stroke, and ASS ( Angle, Speed, and Spin ). That is where I go when my flash just ain't there.
Best of luck, hope ya get all the good rolls.

NO Stroke Today

I have to agree with posts earlier. Do not think about it and try starting the next day out shooting long straight in shots. I don't however agree with punishing yourself when you miss. Try shooting it until you feel better about the stroke. You will miss here and there but, you can feel your stroke and notice where it went wrong by where the OB hits. I find that most the time when I'm dogging easy shots it's because, I am lining up off center CB and my cue ball goes to the left a hair. http://www.artisticpoolplayers.com/stats.php

I agree Purdman. I have seen too many players go to these crutches when thier game wanes down. They must accept it as part of the game that naturally will happen. Don't pet the sweaty things (Don't sweat the petty things.) Also like you I look at the fundamentals to bring my game back up to par...
