Please HELP ME - Predator 314-2 problem bought online (Seybert)

I know Seybert's stand behind their products...I had a shaft I bought in '95 and after I moved to Vegas it split like bamboo below the ferrule...I just mothballed it for a while...after I moved back to Coldwater in '03 I took it to them and they let me take one they had in stock...no fuss, no muss....

Just a follow up - I was contacted by Predator (Darrin) thanks to this thread. He indicated that my shaft was one of the recalled early batch of 314-2, and they would repair it for me at no cost, this despite the fact the shaft is a year old.

He could tell from the pic that this was a defect. Predator continues to stand behind their work - and I certainly appreciate their effort.

That's great news.

Were you able to find out exactly what the defect was? I'm still curious about the construction methods. In the pic it looked like there was a different material towards the end of the ferrule. I'm just learning these things, but I thought it should be wood all the way to the tip?
 
Just a little insight into the problem that Marco had. Our shafts are hollow in last five inches as most people know. In order to keep the hollow spot from becoming contaminated and rattling it is capped with a dense foam. Most likely the shaft was hit very hard during shipping and this caused a piece of the foam to break loose and fall down into the cavity turning the shaft into a rattle. In the three years that I was customer service manager here I only saw 3-4 sahfts that had this problem.

All ended well

Today I received a new shaft from Predator, this one is perfect.

I'd like to thank Seybert's and Predator in the persons of Sid and Darrin for solving this matter in the best and fastest way possible.

I've finished to shot with my new cue and I did my first 20 run at straight pool (scratched after potting the 21st, key and last ball before a really good break ball!).
