How bout some input on this. What do you use the most when playing for position - follow or draw? I realize there are times when only one or the other can be used. What I am refering to is if either would work which would you use.

I use follow more than anything. I try and land on the correct side of the object ball for the natural run but.....sometimes I just can't do it...LOL

I, like Bustamante, use draw more often than not. Now if I could just absorb his winning style...

I definitely use more draw than follow. Chuckles and I were discussing this the other day. He feels more comfortable using follow, but I am the exact opposite.

Draw vrs Follow

15 years ago, I would have said Draw rather quickly.

Now, I must say follow. It might have something to do with the games I play now than 15 years ago. More 1P and 14.1 than 8 or 9 ball.

I honestly can't say which one I prefer. I'm a little more accurate with follow. Although I use draw quite a bit.

I like them both and it really depends on the shot. I suppose if I had to choose, I would tend to use follow. I like to stay away from other balls, so that is a critical factor for me when deciding which to use.

i use more draw..even though a follow would be much easier to control...it just feels good when you suck that cue ball back again.

I definitely use follow more than draw, I play in alot of different environments and the cue balls are varying weights so I find drawing to be much more inconsistent, either it's too much or not enough. Follow is much more predictable even with unknowns, with ball in hand I will follow into position or a cluster everytime, the only time I draw is to avoid scratch shots, short draws for multiple balls in the same pocket, or I simply got out of position and there is no other option on the shot.

Circumstances certainly dictate what can/ cannot be done, but that said, in a situation where bit follow/ draw are options, I find that follow is more precise and predictable.

I always use follow whenever possible, especially when I get ball in hand. Most of the time you are trying to see where it will go in front of you rather than coming back to you, follow is easier to execute anyway.

Balls are round and designed to roll. Draw is fun and at times necesssary but less consistant. IMHO

I use draw way more than follow, some say that would constitute a bad habit. I like keeping the cue ball in the middle of the table more or less, make the shot and draw back to center table. these are all generalities of course, every shot has specific circumstances. I like choosing the shortest distance and least amount of rails or other variables for the cue ball to travel.

If you are a bar box player the answer should be follow. If you are a 9' big table simonis cloth player, the answer should be it does not matter, I posses both shots of equal ability, I pick the shot that presents the easiest path to the next ball and is the easiest pot.

That is the way I play and teach my students to play. The facts are the pros hit mostly draws and not follows, they badly over use this shot. The answer to why is long and complicated and that is now being filmed and explained on my new DVD on the draw coming to you in late March.

The pro's really don't know why they do that, I do and it's being explained in depth on the DVD. They go with what they know, they will always take their best shot, the one they do the best on.

What I will show is the draw is the better of the two shots because it deflects less and pots more for them which is why they use it the most. I will then teach you how to hit follows shooting table length using 3 tips english loaded cue ball and totally eliminate and beat deflection so you then have both shots equal in potting percentages in your game, so now, you don't care which one you choose. Fast is now singing like a Canary for you guys, oh happy days are here at last. :D
:p

I hope that my impending change to a Talisman Pro medium tip will give me better follow than that afforded by the Le Pro tip.

i think theoretically, if you play on the correct side of the OB, then you would use follow most often.
