I'm a huge fan of Omega/dpk cues. I love the simple 5 point construction, the variety of ringwork (boxed, ivory trim, piano key, silver trim), and the different selections of woods that they used. Omega/dpk's hit great and play phenomenal in my personal opinion. Most of all, I love the history of the cues; how Mike Bender started his humble beginnings at Omega and then Dave Kersenbrock joined him in collaboration to make some great looking and excellent hitting cues.
Here are pics of my Omega/dpk collection. 1. An early example made up of cocobolo points into curly maple forearm with wood boxed and ivory trim rings. 2. A lacewood pointed cue into curly maple forearm with wood boxed rings. 3. Bird's eye maple points into what appears to be either pau ferro or goncale alves forearm. Could possiblly be paduk as well. 4. A late model ebony pointed cue into curly maple forearm with silver trim rings.
I've spoken to Mike Bender about Omega/dpk cues and he had mentioned that early examples did not always have the flared butt cap. After Mike had left Omega/dpk for Alaska, his brother Matt took over and worked with DPK on the cues. These later models did not have the flared butt cap as well. Take note in the pics of the pin variations.
Enjoy the pics and please post your own if you have them. I always enjoy looking at Omegas! P.S. I'm still searching for a piano key ringed example. If you have one for grabs, let me know!
