Pocket cuts

Underclocked

I am trying to help my friend get a new set of cushions and new cloth put on his 10' American snooker table. The mechanic does great work but is not familiar with the proper pocket cuts for either the corners or sides. We are going to use K55 profile cushions and the table will be used with 2 1/8" balls.

I wonder could anyone here provide a picture/pictures of the side and corner pockets along with proper dimensions and angles? It would be of great help.

Thanks in advance.

I thought the web was supposed to provide all answers to all questions.:frown:
Damned if I can find the definitive answer.

History
After decades of petty wrangling among the trade firms, who had to produce tables to meet the requirements and rules of the governing bodies, a sub-committee of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) was entrusted with the design of a new template specifying the degree of undercut and ensuring that the pocket did not narrow beyond the edge of the playing surface. Pockets which had not incorporated the latter stipulation tended to reject even accurately struck balls if played at speed from narrow angles - that is positions in which the player could not aim at the full width of the pocket opening.

The new template designed by Norman Clare, was accepted by the IBSF and B & SCC in 1980.

Yes, they are just horrible!! Thanks for the great info, Scaramouche. I have copied some of that info for future use. Meanwhile, I found a place that has pre-shaped snooker table "bends" for the pockets that are made from the same K55 profile rubbers they sell. That just might be the simplest way to go, providing those bends are correct.

In any case, the bends and the provided info is much better than what we had.
