Pocket vs. Pocketless table?

3-cushion looks really difficult. How do you even begin to learn the game? In pocket billiards, you can pick it up right away and at least try to make shots, if not worrying about position. In 3C, I would hardly know where to begin to see those patterns. Do most players come from other games first?

My only experiance playing carom games are a few games of English Billiards and playing some billiards on a 9 foot pool table.

However I doubt you would start with 3 cushion. I would think you should start by playing straight rail billiards and then 1 cushion, 2 cushion and then 3 cushion billiards.

This is exactly how I did it. I started out with straight rail, then 1 cushion, 2 cushion then 3 cushion.
The rest of you don't need to fight in here.... just need your opinions and your thoughs why don't you try 3C?

Have a great day everyone!

I would love to play 3c. Unfortunately there are no carom tables where I live. Maybe later on in life, when I have a bigger house I'll buy a carom table to go along with my pool table (future pool table that is).

There is also a very nice 3C table in a very nice new pool hall in Holiday called Hammerheads (just north of alt-19 on US-19).

THanks.
I just found one at californiatables.com under Royal table. But still pricey for me :D
I noticed that, there are lots of them in CA. I searched through craigslist, I only found them in CA and couple in Miami.
