pocketing vs. moving?

oh just to clarify that last post...I'd try to go off the top rail with inside english - into the side rail - and off the bottom rail up towards the 9. Even if you dog the 6, you have a pretty good chance of hooking the guy. If you don't have a shot on the 9, you have 2 balls to hide behind for a lockdown safe.

YOu'd do all that with the sissy stick?! No more last 5 & the snaps for you. But 12-5 & the spread...maybe that's our game!?!

Yeah, but you are 180+cm, aren't you?! IIRC, our man Egg is only 134cm!!

You don't like thinning the 6 to center, CB 4 rails to other end?
START(
%Fr8H1%GH2R1%HK9S9%IL3M6%P_5L9%Qr3K1%RF3R8%Uq6C9%Vs2E6%WC8U0
%XR4[5%YS4[2%Zp6C1%[F4S7%\C2T1%eA5a3%_t4F8%`r5G1%a`7L2
)END

No. I don't like thinning with outside english playing safe... and I'd still have to shoot pretty hard to reach the other end of the table. If I'd thin 6 really thin, I'd have to shoot a ton of left english, your angle wouldn't be possible otherwise and If I'd shoot the 6 a little bit thicker, I'd sell-out verrry easily, because I couldn't keep the 6 near the short rail. I don't see any safeties here which would give me near 50-50 chance of winning this rack, against a good player.

I'd make a thin safety only from this cueball position:
START(
%Fr8H1%GH2R1%HK9S9%IL3M6%P_5H2%Uc4D0%Vs2F7%WF0L1%XC5K0%YD7J9
%Zb1C7%[q9K2%\s0I1%_t4F8%`r5G1%a_9H1
)END

This safety would give higher than 50-50 chance of winning the set, even if I didn't leave the cueball hooked.

And yes, I'm 195cm (6'5")... quite rarely have problems with my reach but sometimes use the rake or my lefty. :p Sometimes I just assume almost every shot is reachable by anyone

Your diagram isn't the same for the shot on the 6 ball. In your's, the safety is the ONLY option. Peace, John.

Well, before I knew he was 6'5"!! I'd argue that the thin-ball is the way to go here. I don't like the chances of playing shape on th 7 via an up/ down route and the 7+8 are soo close from the bottom. And the 6 is not going anywhere. I think I am ducking. Mjantti and Egg don't want to play that game from there every day.

That was my point, I was suggested a safety and I didn't like it, but I would have taken the safety instead in the diagram I depicted with a slighty different position for the cueball. In the original diagram I would have tried to cut the 6 in with inside english.

I don't have enough heart to chase my cash. I had to change my avatar because I can't bear to even look at a picture of an atm anymore. It reminds me of that long walk across the poolroom to punch in my pin #'s only to find that I've hit my daily withdrawal limit...again
