Bridged points with re-cut wood in lieu of veneers, what are the advantages and disadvantages other than glue lines in the veneers. Any help is appreciated.

I would be glad to help, but I don't totally understand the question. Can you explain a little more?

Your talking about bridged points with recuts instead of veneers ????
Usually bridged points are done with veneers, recuts are in another category? If you can clarify a little it would help.

Points

Yes, I'm talking about bridged points using re-cut wood instead of using veneers with the bridged points. I appreciate the help you are trying to give me. Thank You

recuts

I suggest making a ring out of the point wood, example rose wood, Install the ring then cut and glue in the 4 points. next point maple, make and install ring, you will need to trim the rosewood ring to the proper thickness before gluing the maple ring. then cut the maple points and install repeat until the desired amount of points are in. Hope this works for you. but someone else may have a different way of doing it.
Best of luck,

I think he's basically asking for a full splice style point and "bridge". Then recut that to add another full splice. End look would be a seamless veneer+bridge. If that's what the OP wants, then it'll be very expensive.

There is no advantage for either one over the other. Either can be done a few different ways.
