well i am not a grand master or anything. i have played with a Mcdermott forever it seems. i just picked up the poison Arsenic 3 cue. for the money this thing is super nice. i was very impressed with the way the cue plays. it feels well balanced and i can tell my game play is more controlled. i did not pay for the upgraded predator shaft and just have the venom shaft but it feels great and seems to help my shots be more inline to what my eyes see. like i said not a master just a average player who has tried a lot of cues, from cheap ones to borrowed expensive ones. i must say the leather grip is awesome. feels very comfortable and squishy kinda to let you know your holding on to it. my linen wrap had a solid feel but the leather just seems better feeling to me.

i am not gonna be a mega player or anything just for getting one but i do have to say that it feels good and has a nice hit (my opinion). plays similar to the predator but different. not in a bad way. the shaft upgrade would probably change the feel and hopefully on day i can find out. some of what i may be feeling and noticing is the stiffer shaft than my 1985 Mcdermott that has the original shaft or just the pro taper that is allowing a different feel to make my stroke straighter. who know but i love this thing. best money on a cue for me so far. it will deff be a keeper for a long time.

i have not seen very many post on these cues so i thought i would throw out my experience. i have had it for a week now and am very happy with my choice.

I sold an Anthrax AX2 to my buddy a few weeks ago.. He called me almost immediately to tell me how much he liked it. He too said that it felt very well balanced.
 
I'm intrugued by the bullet-style joint pin on these cues. Looks different, and I wonder what kind of affect it has on the feel of the hit.

i won one in a supremely honest raffle at breaktime in wilmongton, nc.

it is the poison anthrax AX1. it is a fine hitting cue. i really like the smoothness of the new shaft(my others are years and decades old and sadly neglected). the hit is fine. feels good. uniloc joint works well.

A lot of folks don't know how serious the "lethality" of Poison's cues are. There's a duality to the "deadly" marketing.

For instance, you noticed the bullet-style pin. Did you know that if you turned the butt upside-down (that bullet pin facing the floor), unscrew the butt-cap, and fill the inside of the cue with smokeless powder, that you have a self-contained 30mm tank cannon cartridge, with that bullet-style pin actually being an armor-piercing kinetic-energy penetrator?

You're not biting? Dang it, I tried. :o

It is a predator,dressed in poison cloths My understanding is that predator owns them and they use predator parts that did not make the grade and discontinued parts to build them

I bought one of these on a whim and broke it at the joint within three days. the small bullet pin they use in the joint only goes about an inch or less into the forearm. barely past the joint ring. design flaw in my opinion, BUT their warranty does cover everything and sent me a new one right away. i'm not sure if all of their cues are like this...i don't really like it and ended up selling the one they sent back to me.

That would be a genuine concern of mine as well. At least they stand behind what they sell.
 
i have been breaking with mine.. why have a stick you can't break with (i am too poor to have a nice break cue) lol.

i have to admit i like the bullet joint. now it seems to take 3 days to get my shaft on the old cue..

i have to honestly think the Arsenic cues are sadly over looked. great cue so far and like i said best money i have spent.

it truly is a predator in poison clothes...
 
im in the process of moving but as soon as i'm settled i'll find the pictures i took of the joint. its kind of cool looking/really sad hahaha. i'll have to keep bumping this or just make a new post.

A funny tale about a poison cue...I won one in an online drawing. Since I LOVE my Josey, I gave it to a friend....he, not really a pool player, passed it on to his nephew, my "honorary nephew" who is a BCA master. My "honorary nephew" called a few weeks ago, giving the Poison cue a rave review. He did change the layered tip to his favorite standard tip, but he loves the cue enough to have ordered a second shaft for it.

Me? You'll have to pry my Josey from my cold dead fingers...but to prove this isn't just another pool hall whopper, here's a pic of my "honorary nephew" playing with the poison cue. Northwest players will know who he is...and many get nervous when they draw him in a tourney. ;)

I have bin playing with a poisin cyonide cue (venom shaft) for about 2 years now and love it. Its hits and feels great and has very minimal deflection. I bought the cheaper VX cue to use as a break/back up stick and i let a friend of mine use it a few times. Turns out he like the stick so much that he sold his mouchi(i think i spelled that wrong) and bought that stick from me. Everyone I have left play with my cue really like the feel and hit of it. After saying all that I must also say I did have a problem just recently with my "ghost joint" the pin pulled rite out of the center of the butt after hitting a hard force follow shot. A cue maker friend of mine glued the pin back in and it has been fine now for the last month. But this is something that predator/poison should be concerned about.
 
I've been breaking with the VX 2.9 for about a year. Original tip et al... love it.

Apparently they have stopped making the air jump so i have been looking for a replacement. I have been looking at these poison break jump cues for the past couple of days and wondering why i would pay 250 more dollars for the predators when i can get a break jump poison? anyone got any reviews on the poison or experience with comparing the 2? thanks for the help and all of the information you have given so far

I found this post randomly on a search but thought I'd add my two cents anyway. I've played poison for the past 2 years and I think they're incredible cues. It plays top notch and is an incredible value. The new designs are kind of ugly though, I have an AR-5 1st gen and love the way it looks. Unfortunately, I upgraded to predator and no longer play with my poison. It can't keep up with my Z shaft though and I have put it up for sale. Poison makes a very good looking cue that plays extremely well combined with an affordable price tag. Great for players getting in to LD shafts without breaking the bank.
