I don't understand how you can get away with advertising $4000 added when you take $3840 out of the entry fee. Based on 128 players

The reality is you are adding $160

Not true at all!

Its guaranteeing $4000 added to the prize pool. So if you dont get 128 players, lets say 50 show up, you are still getting the $4000 added. So trust me, its not like you are only adding $160. People always seem to complain about the money breakdown for these tournamnets, in reality, players should be thanking the people that put on these events and put these kind of tours together so us players have tournaments to play in. Pool rooms put up lots of cash for these events and most of the time lose money or break even on the events. And the director of the tour, after all the expences( the gas, room, promotions), he might make $150 a day working 16 hours in that day. Without these kind of tours, the players at the amature level would never play anyone other than the players in their own rooms, and pool would wither away and die.

I will be running this event, I try to be as fair as possible when doing payouts and taking money out of entry fees. I will be keeping $20 per person out of every entry paid. So as for someone who probably doesn’t play nor understand what tour operators do to survive I will break it down for you real simple.

The Pool Room is guaranteeing $10,000 no matter how many players show up. They will receive $10 per player green fee.
I will receive $20 registration. So if by chance we get 128 players then I get $2,560 This money is divided between 2 for 4 long days of work, this includes a 4 hour drive Friday and a 4 hour drive home Monday. I don’t charge a tournament director fee like most other tour directors do. Also take into account the organizing of this event and trying to bring sponsors all year long there is much more work than you think. So you can basically divide the money between two people just for that weekend and it adds up to $320 per day. If anyone has a problem with this please don’t come play.
The total purse for the Amateur event with 128 players would $9,760 please show me another Amateur event that has close to this money involved.
The APA has not become the biggest league in the world by giving all its money back to the players.

Its just simple business

Bill Dunsmore as many tournaments as you have played in, why would you knock Tonys event when its the best tour we got going right now in Florida? I dont get it

Some people will never understand.

it makes me laugh when people complain about the money being taken out. Most of the time it is the same people who never took the time in running an event themselves. I came from a family that owned a room and hosted over 1000 tournaments. I can tell you this we lost money in every event except 1, we broke out even. First the room posts the added money. Second the room closes it's tables for 2 or more days and looses that income, also. This also doesn't take into account the cost of advertisement, reclothing of the tables and any other costs. I have seen the business on both sides and enjoy being on the playing side then the promoting side, less headaches.
If anyone has been keeping a score card they should be seeing less and less tournaments each year. In the 90's the Joss tour had a majority of it's tournaments in New England now it is down to about 3 or 4 events a year in New England. A majority of those New England events are held at Snookers and we should be thanking Steve and Regina. The reason for the demise of tournament play is with players complaining about the money. The rooms are choosing not to have an event and save money and aggravation. God bless Dave Cuhna and may he be resting in peace. He was an excellent promoter for pool and players would complain about a man that would have over $50,000 added a year in tournaments. When he stopped having events I bet that hurt a few pockets.
If we keep complaining and rooms and promoters stop having tournaments we will kill pool. It is a shame there is not a long standing pro tour with how long billiards has been around. The main reason was the constant bickering about people's personal interests then the tours interests.
Thank you Tony for your dedication in giving us the opportunity to compete and see you Nov 17th.

Tally is a great town, the nightlife is great and there are some people with long money that bet it way way up.
Not to mention that owner of Zingales is prolly the coolest pool room owner Ive met.
I will definitely be there!
