Are your rails formica or wood? I have a Tech Black GC3 with formica rails. I've used rubbing compound, waxes, all the mild stuff. Non of these did anything. I'll be following to see what others have to recommend.

I had moderate success polishing the Formica on my Gold Crown I rails using my Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher and Meguiar's D30016 DA Microfiber Correction Compound. If you do not have experience using a DA polisher, I recommend you do not go this route. It's very easy to burn through the gel coat if you don't know what you are doing. If you are going to give it a go, you do not want to do this with the rails on the table and it's best to do it before you change your cloth out as the rail cloth will get stained.

For all those asking the same questions, and all those that provide answers that don't work, read the following and draw your own conclusions!!!

Formica countertops are made from multiple layers of paper, including:
  • Kraft paper: The base layer that's saturated with phenolic resin to give it strength and rigidity
  • Decorative paper: A single layer of paper that gives the countertop its color and pattern
  • Protective overlay: A transparent overlay, usually made from melamine resin, that protects the surface from scratches and stain

The process for making Formica countertops includes:
  1. Saturating sheets of kraft paper with melamine resin
  2. Pressing the resin-soaked paper together under high heat
  3. Placing decorative paper on top and curing it in an oven
  4. Gluing the laminate sheets to particle board

Formica countertops are available in many colors, patterns, and styles, and can look like granite, quartz, and marble. They can be cleaned with soap and water, but abrasive cleaners can scratch them.

All one has to do is look at how worn away some of the wood grain is on older Gold Crowns. I have seen pictures where areas of the rail are just tan, no wood grain left.
